Wow after 9 years and 1336 posts they closed our thread because it was too long.

There are 134 pages in that thread but the last 130 pages were from 2010 and beyond and there is a ton of helpful info in there. Hopefully the current students will continue this thread as I graduate this month. Please try to read that thread at least a little bit before posting your questions here as it is very likely your question has been asked and answered on the other thread more than once.

By the way, if I start up school in August and am looking to live in Las Cumbres, do you know when those rooms are up for rent? Will I always be able to find a place to live in las cumbres, or is it very competitive?

Hi again, everyone.

Today I was watching some vlogs about living in PR. Just kinda bored and excited about the move...

One of the videos was made by a La Inter student.. It was a year old.. She wasn't in the nursing program, she was a business student. But she said that now the nursing program has ~1000 people on a WAITLIST to start the program...?? This is incorrect, right?? She said she heard this from her brother, who is in the nursing program. I'm super confused, and a tad worried, but I'm guessing she didn't know what she was talking about...

If someone could ease my mind that'd be great :) I have applied and all that with the school, going there in three weeks for a visit and moving there in July. I already have my tickets booked so I'm really hoping I'm going to be able to start the nursing program in Aug!

Look at you, all excited and stuff - that's awesome! :) Come in with an open positive mindset and just pepper that with patience...and you'll do great!

Honestly, I don't know numbers. I would assume from what I KNEW a year ago (which is when I got here-ish) that was incorrect. There are quite a few changes in the works from what I've heard from the director and assistant director. BUT, I've also heard that they're working on curtailing entrance. Has it started, nope. But that could change. Don't stress. Turn in your paper work...and keep asking your questions. Stay informed. Ease your mind....

There are quite a few changes that will come to be in the next few weeks/months...from a nursing student's association point of view... which may prove to be a bit helpful for you... so when that rolls out... I'll make sure the appropriate individual announces that on here.

Las Cumbres... I don't know what you guys know of the area...but it's referring to an area... like saying a suburb in a town kinda thing. So there's also the 'subdivisions'/ 'gated communities' which are NOT at ALL like the ones you're envisioning from back home. These are more like rectangular townhomes with typically 2 floors where the owner typically lives on the ground floor and the tenant lives above - but of course that can vary. There are also some that were split up so it's a multiple 'apt' townhome with a much more varied arrangement.

I have friends that live in Las Cumbres... they like it... but its like finding a rental in any town.. you have to search and cross your fingers and physically go check it out....and then sigh and be happy with the choice you chose. I'm sure someone's mentioned it already but you can find housing on craigslist - though very few. There are also options available on clasificadosonline. And it's all based on availability. E can give you a few ops too if you contact him. We're trying to set up a singular 411 source for incoming/current students to use for all things PR...and when it's up we'll let you know.

The rooms that are currently occupied by our students will go up when the current term graduates - which can vary. I have friends leaving on the 18th through after June 18th... so I'm guessing that's where that date would go... And there probably are some who may stay on til July... so a lot of it is word of mouth... and coming here physically and hoofin' it... knowing upperclassmen who will connect you with an exiting grad so you can snatch up all their stuff...that sort of thing.

I want to take the math class and computer class (both are online if it matters) through my Colorado community college. I am sure the computer literacy class will transfer. But for the math class I am debating which to take to make sure it will transfer. I really want to take the "Math for Clinical Calculations" class because I feel like it would be more interesting and most importantly, useful. it's MATH 103, so it is college level, not a remedial class... Do you think it will transfer or will I have to pick a more general math class? My other options would be MATH 107 - Career Math or MATH 120 - Math for Liberal Arts... I don't want to take the Math 121 - College Algebra because I think it's above the minimum requirement and I haven't taken a math class in a few years.

So my question is if you think the MATH 103 - Math for Clinical Calculations class will be accepted in transfer as my math class?

If they just want college level math I would assume they would accept it. But if they are looking for a broader, basic math class then maybe not. Please tell me what you think, or what course you took that transferred if you didn't already have a BA.

Stephanie I don't think anyone but admissions could answer this question. Anyone that answers it would be guessing. This is definitely something only the school could answer. Sorry.

HI I am a nurse graduated from inter metro last year I just suggest u call admision to that but the math they requiered is a very easy one u can take ir online at the school and I think it would be cheaper than u community college. But is like a very easy math

Hello again! Thank you, 1stsmile, for the advice! Hooking up with an upperclassman is definitely a good idea for getting an apartment and their stuff is a great idea haha.

I've been thinking a lot over the past month (and waiting for the darn USPS! They should receive the last of my application materials tomorrow and then hopefully they will be able to send me out an admission letter)! There's one serious question that I have for anyoine who is currently in the school, or who has graduated from it. How easy is it to get licensed in states in the continental US with the Inter's Bachelor degree?

At first I had checked to make sure that the school is accredited and that it's accreditation isn't going to expire, and it passed the test. It has accreditation (nursing) through the NLNAC until 2018. And I thought that that seal of aproval would be enough.

But now I am realizing that this accreditation does not really guarantee that, since it is up to the individual state licensing boards to decide whether or not your education is adecuate. I have yet to find a state licensing board which maintains a list of "approved" programs available to see. Making things further complicated, it seems like many of the states which I have browsed through consider Puerto Rico to be international, since it is not considered to be within NCSBN jurisdiction (even though it seems that most of the other "US territories are" :/ ) .

So, please let me know what the deal actually is! Has anyone had any trouble getting into the state that they wanted to, or have you heard any of these stories? Any stories of success?! Please let me know! Thank you so much

Hello everyone the day has arrived and I will flying to Puerto Rico tomorrow to find out everything about the school answers for all the questions posted on these thread. However, let say that I am a bit nervous because I have not receives any admission letter from the university and they received my documents back in February 7, 2013.

One of the reason besides to find out why they don't answer their phones !!! I will be looking areas in where to live an scanning the job market as well. Wish me luck and hopefully I am able to register for August while I am there.

Matt this has come up over and over and over again. But I know both threads are long. You can take the NCLEX for any state you wish. I am taking it in CA for WI. A lot of people choose WI because it is part of the compact states and it is one of the easiest and fastest states as far as what they require.

FL does require taking an English langauge proficiency exam but I know dozens of people of peeps from FL that went to La Inter. They test in FL for WI and then transfer it to FL. People take NCLEX in the USVI, CA, TX, NY, WA, AK, PR, MI, NC, and many more states. Your options are plenty and not PR is not considered Intl except the FL rule with the English languge exam.

Good luck on your visit. I am on the island now and in fact I am cleaning out my storage unit and selling my car. That is why I am here but I am aslo having a ton of fun. I missed this island so much. I don't want to leave. And the weather is perfect. Enjoy your stay.

By the way I will message you because I have stuff like dishes and towels and stuff I can give to you because I was going to get rid of them.
