Hi, everyone. I just moved to Arizona and will be starting work soon at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City. Since I wasn't able to find any accommodations in Sun City, I will probably be renting an apartment in either Peoria or Glendale. My problem is that, I don't have a car yet and would like to initially take public transportation between home and work. Are there buses or any form of affordable public transport between Sun City and Peoria or Glendale? I would highly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks a million.

Generally speaking, Phoenix is really spread out and a car is a must have. There are public buses.......but working odd hours you might have a rough time of it. I have lived here pert near close to 50 years and I don't know ANYONE that can make it here without a car.
Try googling Phoenix bus schedules and you might find a way to make it work.
Thank you so much, Hoozdo. You're the only one who replied and I really appreciate it. I really hope I can make it work

Hoozdo is right, a car is pretty much a necessity around here. Unfortunately, the valley really sucks when it comes to public transportation. Sure there are buses, but the wait time would be killer. Buses are good for the ASU students, as they have buses running back and forth all the time. But those are really the only people I see that can make it without a car.
However, some hospitals have carpooling programs where you meet up at a central location and carpool with other workers, for a small fee. See if your hospital has anything like that available.
Good luck to you!

Public transit is essentially non-existent here. Even taxis are a rarety. Buses run, but i don't think the schedules are condusive to hospital work, and I don't know where they do or do not go. I too think that a car is a must in the Phoenix area. It is not like most big cities. Everything is so spread out here.
