I haven't read many articles where clinicians actually use mental health nursing diagnosis. Has the mental health nursing profession all but given up on nursing diagnosis and turned to the dark side of the DSM and medically-focused care?

We still use care plans at my mental facility.

we use care plans
It appears that they write mental health nursing care plans in the US and UK, but not in New Zealand and Australia. Any other information would be great to receive and discuss!

Care planning is alive and well where I work. They work the same way as the ones we'd use to have to write in nursing school, but they're more concise and focused.

We use them at my facility as well. Love the nursing care plan! Yes, that is sarcasm.

Nursing diagnoses are alive and kicking at 3 psych hospitals in which I've worked... So are care plans using nursing diagnoses, although they're much less complicated that some are in nursing school.

We make care plans and sign them every shift but they are irrelevant to the actual patient care.

Yup! Better still, they are supposed to be updated every shift, section by section. Makes for a lot of documentation busywork and nobody cares what they say. :/
