I took it last summer. Had professor K, she was awesome. I actually think it is the best class I've taken at OU so far. There are some older threads that have really helpful info, I think it is a good use of your time to review them. It helped me alot.

Yes, for stats you have a midterm and final that have to be proctored. Get the proctor information and test date submitted early the first week of class to make sure everything is approved and they have time to receive the exam by snail mail.

I'm in! My friend took this course about a year ago. She said it wasn't bad at all. I'm hoping that's true!
I read some really great things about the professor on ratemyprofessor.com
Helps ease my anxiety a little !

Professor K actually makes this course fun. (If you can describe a math course as fun.) As mentioned before, there are two proctored exams. As long as you do your homework, you will do fine on the tests. Be sure to look at the Question and Answer Board frequently, as a lot of helpful information is posted daily.

A former student posted last summer and I took her advice and it helped a lot. A
s you take notes, write things out so that you can go back later and understand what your wrote. Organize your notes and practice questions, identify sections in the books with post-its. If you are really organized that way, when it comes time for the exams you don't have to waste time trying to find out where stuff is in your notes or practice questions. I found that I used all of the time allotted for the exam, but be sure to leave a couple of minutes for the bonus questions at the end. Those are easy points.
I was really nervous and the first week was overwhelming, but once I got into it, I actually liked it. And I agree the Qand A board is very helpful too. Good luck this summer.

Hi everyone. So I'm in the stats class and having frequent meltdowns over the information! I do not understand much of this and feel so overwhelmed! I got a 60 on the first assignment did much better on the second but now am working on the third and have come to a stopping point. Has anyone used the stats for dummies books or stats made easy? I just feel like I need extra help. I'm considering trying to find a tutor. Anyone have any advice? Please help, I'm so discouraged right now.

I got the stats for dummies book and it did not help me much, it was mainly about stat classes that use a computer program, rather than doing the math. What really did help me was to watch the instructor videos while doing the sample problems. I watched them a lot! A tutor is not a bad idea, and maybe someone that could check your homework so you can get those points! I think the lessons after the midterm were a little bit easier. Hang in there, get some help and power through it. I am terrible at math and I passed!
