PSB exam...NE1 ever take it?

Published

Hi y'all. Just to fill you all in to better help me out....I'm a 30yr old dude livin in Plano, TX. I graduated with a BS in biologogy back in 2005. I worked as a pharmacy tech and as an apheresis tech at the same time for about a year back in 2005-2006. In 2006 I was lucky enough to score a job with an OPO that is partnered with a tissue bank. I was hired as a scrub tech and have been scrubbing organ and tissue cases ever since. Im kinda gettin tired of workin on dead people and my work said they would provide tuition reimbursement if I went to get my RN.

I'm scheduled to take the PSB exam as an entry exam to get into Collin County Community College RN program. Have any of you ever taken this test? I'm kinda nervous since you can only take it once a year....I don't wanna fail!! I've rented all of the study guides recommended by the school....the material in the guides look tough! I went onto PSB homepage & checked out one of thier exam examples.....it looks easier than the guides! What the heck!? Maybe I'm just wiggin out, but if anyone has taken this test......can you give me alil advice!? Also, if you have anything to say about CCCC program, I would love to listen!!

One more thing....If for whatever reason, I can't get into CCCC are there any ADN programs that you would recommend applying to in my area?

I have about a 3.8, but I have to retake A&P I and II....since they timed out.

Thanks

I graduated with my first degree (EE) in 1984! I took the PSB-NAT to get into Florida CC @ Jacksonville's RN program. Even rusty, I scored in the 98%ile!

You are right....it is easier than the books indicate.

Good LUCK!

BTW, I am ex-neighbor....used to live in Richardson!

I plan on taking the PSB in the future as well for this college. I just need the study information since I was told there wasn't a study guide at the school.:crying2:

I just went on the PSB website to look at the sample questions. Also, I got some pre-RN exam books. I'm hopin for the best!

I just took the exam 2 weeks ago. Did the practice exam from the website. Scored well on it. Most challenging part for me was the spelling on the actual test--was harder than the practice test. Pay attention to your exam section times because you have to move fairly quickly on most parts--1st part I actually ran out of time and I'm pretty quick on tests. It doesn't hurt to guess if you don't know an answer. Be prepared that the reading comp is typically written in VERY formal language and is a bit harder to comprehend. Most questions if I wasn't 100% sure of the answer, I could narrow it down to 2 possibilities so doing that will help as well (increases your chances of a right answer if you have to guess).

Thanks much!!! I've been praticing the reading stuff!!! I know what u mean by "formal language!!"

I have been rejected from the collin county nursing program. I have 14 points and my GPA is 4.0. I'm guessing maybe this time the applicants are too good. Anyone can give me any idea why this is happening?
