PSA: Online AA Meetings w/ Free Verifications

Published

Lionrock Recovery has online AA meetings with free verifications.

https://www.lionrockrecovery.com/online-aa-meetings-and-support-groups

At the end of the meetings they give a code to use to get a verification. The meeting schedule can be found at that link above and the verification form is at the very bottom of the webpage.

(I am a SMART online meeting facilitator & also, of course, highly recommend our verification meetings for anybody in a contract permitted to utilize non 12 step meetings: https://www.smartrecovery.org/community/calendar.php )

That’s great information Kats thanks!

Thank you Kat! I have attended in person SMART recovery meetings independent of my monitoring program requirements and have found them to be a great alternative program to 12-step meetings in providing a program to maintain sobriety and recovery. It makes no sense for some state programs to mandate 12-step meetings only as a program requirement when we all know that recovery is not a one size fits all. SMART recovery should be a program choice in lieu of 12-steps.

Being that NJ requires 12-step programs, I have explored more online options and have found https://www.intherooms.com/home/live-meetings/ which offers many online meetings with free attendance verification for anyone else needing online 12 step meetings.

Thank you for this information. It will be very helpful to many of us!

Is this just a nurse meeting?

Those meetings on Lionrock are not specific to nurses unfortunately.

Somebody mentioned in another thread that there is an online AA meeting for nurses on Tuesday nights at InTheRooms.com (don't know much about how to navigate that site or find the specific meeting).

SMART Recovery also has an online Medical and Mental Health Professional (MMHP) Meeting that is restricted access for people who are licensed and does give verifications. They do make exceptions for some people in recovery with a license issue though (they did for me).

To get access to the MMHP meeting & forum fill out the application here: https://www.smartrecovery.org/community/forums/31-Medical-amp-Mental-Health-Professionals-in-Recovery

The meetings are held every other Sunday at 1pm to 2pm. Here is the direct link to the Zoom meeting entry page: https://www.smartrecovery.org/community/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=186&day=2020-3-15&c=6

I don't see the meeting on smart recovery listed. I signed up for the other app and will see if anyone goes to that online meeting.

SMART can sometimes be hard to navigate, but they do have online meetings. I have never found any "nurse" only meetings there, but I did on InTheRooms.com.

InTheRooms has free verification also!

SMART's "Medical & Mental Health Provider" meeting is every other Sunday, so some Sundays it will not be on the agenda for that week. It will be held this Sunday, March 28th. If you look at the Calendar (https://www.smartrecovery.org/community/calendar.php?c=6&do=displaymonth) it will say: MMHP SMART meeting (Zoom Voice/Video) [Restricted Access] - Sunday @ 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET- Facilitated by ohhivi - VERIFICATIONS PROVIDED

The process of getting verifications will be explained during the meeting. Verifications are used for some court systems and/or state nurse recovery programs that allow you to use them.

ohhvivi (the meeting facilitator), or Vi, as we call her, is very nice. She is a pharmacist but there are many nurses and other medical and mental health professionals who attend.

In order to attend that meeting, because it is restricted access, you have to visit this forum & fill out the application: https://www.smartrecovery.org/community/forums/31-Medical-amp-Mental-Health-Professionals-in-Recovery
