Providence TIP September 2022

Published

Hi all! I applied yesterday to the Providence TIP for SoCal (specifically at Holy Cross) and immediately got a text interview request. The text interview was clarifying that I'll be able to take the NCLEX in time, what units I want to work for, etc. Right after I submitted that I got an interview request!

Did anyone respond to their recruiter? Mine offer came from a do not reply address, but it feels weird to not respond for a whole month.

I didn’t respond to the email but I ended up getting a text last night and then I got a call this afternoon too

Anyone hear from st joes in orange? My portal still says interview step scheduled…

Has anyone taken the NCLEX yet or if not when are you guys taking it? I’m using Mark K and UWorld mostly with light Kaplan. Just scheduled mine for June 29th ??

I didn’t get the offer at providence but I will offer some tips about taking the NCLEX. I graduated in April, took my NCLEX on June 13th (Friday the 13th LOL) and I did 75 questions. I used ATI for the 3 weeks of April because my school offers an incentive. After 3 weeks I did UWorld. I did two of the assessments, the first assessment before doing any practice questions and the second a week before. My NCLEX was all over the place so that was a good sign of it being a good indicator I passed. It wasn’t med heavy. I would say a good chunk was on delegation, communication, scope of practice, prioritization. I found UWorld helpful in the sense that I saw how many times I choose the right answer to switching to the wrong answers. I even knew I was switching for an incorrect answer.

When you say all over the place, what do you mean? Like difficulty level or type of questions?

I had questions from maternity, ob, peds, mental health, med surg, public health, Maslow, stages of development. Those types of questions.

OMG thank you so much for the info and congrats on passing !!

Thank you so much for the info! Would you say UWorld was harder than the exam? It seems like some of their questions are incredibly specific.

Should I just give up on providence? My portal has said interview complete since the 31st and when I emailed my recruiter they told me they had not received  any info on my file

UWorld is definitely harder than the NCLEX. I went in with the mindset of passing and with doing the bare minimum of questions. On my UWorld I would score about 70% or so and on my assessment it said I was borderline on passing. I didn’t let that shake me up too much. I had taken the NCLEX for my Lvn so I knew what to kind of expect. The questions were a bit long on the NCLEX. My suggestion is to do about 200 questions a day. Don’t use too much study materials. Hence why I only did ATI for my school and UWorld after that. I brushed up on my labs but didn’t get a lot of lab questions. I think maybe just one or two.

I accepted a different job offer not at providence bc I personally never heard back from them. But I took the NCLEX back in march and I used both Uworkd and Mark K lectures only. I feel like using more than 1-2 resources you will just overwhelm yourself. UWorld definitely helped bc it had the same set up as the exam. However, when I took the practice tests I scored borderline and that really put me in a bad mindset. However I kept going and ended up passing the NCLEX in 75!
