Providence Hospitals New Grads

Did anybody apply to the position for BSN new grads for the Providence hospitals job fair for the epic implementation technician?

I got a call from a recruiter this morning and an email with the offer letter attached "Please see the offer letter attached. You do not need to return this letter - we will ask you to sign a copy later in the process."

And a note stating that either later today or Monday I will receive further instruction about on-boarding.

I am assuming that the on boarding email will be sent Monday! ??? I have not received anything yet. I got called Thursday with an official offer and was told I should expect an email Friday with 2 day business days to get the drug screening completed.

Any similar info???

I got the email for the background check and drug test. the email was sent to me Friday and I'm doing my drug test tomorrow.

My Providence status now reads "Pre-Boarding Process Initiated" and I have completed the Background check (which says "In Progress") and blood & urine drug/ETOH/titer screen. I am looking forward to the next step...but what will it be?

I'm going to be starting as an EPIC Tech in November, but would most likely not be completing the full 6 months.

I talked to the recruiter prior, to make sure I would not be penalized for not completing this 6 month temporary job. The only catch is that I would ineligible to apply for the new grad program (because they would be looking at internal candidates only). Does anyone have any more information about commitments to this position?

Hi everyone, I got the official job offer to start as an epic implementation tech for the second wave in January. Any feedback from those who did the first wave in November?

1. Did you enjoy it and feel that you were able to make the right connections for the new grad programs in spring and summer of next year?

2. Was the epic system difficult to navigate and train others in?

3. I was told that during the training, the class schedule would mostly consist of days (9-11 or 9-4). What is the schedule like during the go live? All 12 hour shifts and can we pick day or night?

1. We are still in the training phase and some teams haven't met with the managers yet, so I couldn't say if we are making "connections" quite yet. For me, I'm not going for the new grad position, but almost everyone else is. There's almost 60 of us in the first wave, and a limited amount of spots for their new grad program. I do enjoy it though.

2. It isn't that difficult once you get the hang of it, but there is a lot of information. If you are somewhat tech savvy you should be okay. There is always someone who is credentialed around that can help you out if you have any questions. We haven't trained others yet.

3. Training schedule varies so you have to be flexible.. You can work Su-Sa, in the morning, afternoon, or nights. 2-8 hrs at a time. Be prepared for gaps in your schedule. For example I worked 7-11 and 5-9 in one day. I don't live nearby, so I couldn't go home. I heard that once we go live it would either be 5 8hr shifts or 3 12hr shifts and you can pick.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for responding with all the info. Wow, that's a lot of people. And it seems to be a fairly long training process. Is the training schedule a set schedule like the one I received through email? During the training, do we get to choose morning, afternoon or nights? And how many times did you have gaps in your schedule? I would have to commute really far so gaps wouldn't be fun for me too. Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate you taking the time to answer. :)

For us, the training schedule was not like the one we received through email. Our manager asked us what she could do to help the second wave transition, and I think one of the concerns was the scheduling. Right now, we're getting our schedules about 2 weeks in advance, and it varies week to week. Some weeks I'm working 20 hours (or less), and others I'm working 40. You do not get to choose your schedule unfortunately, but if you have some child care issues or anything of that sort, you could probably work it out with our manager. I just had that large gap once or twice, but we usually just have a 30 min. - 1 hr. gap for lunch.

Oh, I see. The nurse recruiter mentioned they were trying to fix the discrepancies and any problem areas they had in the first wave for the second wave. Thanks again for answering my questions, and I wish you the best of luck in the coming months!

Hi guys,

I got a called today from HR about the epic tech for January cohort. She also sent me an online interview link called "hirevue." Does anyone know what it entails?? I don't want to start yet bc I feel super unprepared. I don't know what to expect, and really don't want to screw it up. Any help would greatly appreciated! thanks!

I am going to do the HireVue interview as well. Would anyone be willing to share the type of questions they ask? I am not sure what to expect. Thank you!!
