Promised a return call re: interview in 7-10 days, its been 12...

I had a phone interview last Monday, and I was told they'd let me know either way in a week to a week and a half if I can come in for a 2nd interview. It's Friday (12 days later) and I haven't heard anything. Should I call the recruiter and inquire?

Thanks for any guidance!

I'm proud of you!!!

Nothing but good thoughts coming your way!!!!

Keep us updated.

I got beat out by an internal candidate, a tech who probably had lots of the staff pushing for him/her to get it. Here's the email I got:

--------------------------------------------

Thank you for taking the time to interview for the ED Resident RN position. I wanted to let you know that we have ultimately selected an internal candidate who has worked as a tech in our ED for this position. However, [the hiring manager] wanted me to stress to you that you interviewed extremely well for this position and it was a very hard decision (which is the reason for the delay in making a decision). He also wanted to say that he thinks you will do excellent wherever you end up – and truly wishes he had another position open.

I also want to encourage you to continue checking our website for other resident positions. If I can answer any questions for you, don’t hesitate to contact me.

:crying2: A huge disappointment, since it all was out of my control. I guess the positive side is that I now have a contact at this hospital system so I can hopefully do some networking.

I'm so sorry. But that was a really nice email. Better than a form letter that one usually receives.

You keep your head up. You are right about having a contact now. They may call you for something else in the future. I am really sorry that it didn't work out for you. Perhaps some other opportunity is right around the corner.

The email you received is about as positive a rejection as you could get. It was personable and nicely worded. I would take that as a good sign. Your foot was nudging the door. I would continue to look at this employer's job listings for something that opens up in the future. Good luck.
