  1. wait you’re in NP school but aren’t an RN? How does that even work out?
  2. One option is to direct commission as a nurse. Reclass to NP once in. NP need isn’t as high as the bedside nurse. Might be more difficult to make selection as NP when you would make the selection as RN with MSN. Would probably still come in as same rank, so think of it as a work around to guarantee selection.
  3. Funny what real life is like vs what the media reporting on. every media story has full hazmat suits. All kinds of PPE. Projecting thats the entire nation. Not saying there aren’t places overrun or discounting those situations. But majority seems to be slow/lay-off/staff cuts. what’s really goin on is empty hospitals with no PPE. BUT MAN HOW BOUT THE EMAIL TRAFFIC?!?! unsure how the servers are holding up.
  4. You have to admit this punitive bs needs to stop. If a nurse brings their own masks in and wants to wear them, so be it. where will that write up ever go? as long as you can justify your actions write ups don’t mean anything, they’re as worthless as the filing cabinet they sit in....
  5. I would like to remind everyone here: We don’t work for the government. The government works for us. Majority of nurses are hired “at will” anyway, so to me I can quit at will too, and GOVT can’t force me to come work for any reason. “We the people. . .”
  6. Nursing unions are the weakest I’ve ever seen. teamsters are visciously strong, and they drive trucks. They don’t hold a professional license to care for the sick. Step up nurses. Get as viscous towards process issues and administration as you are to your fellow nurses and you’ll own the profession, and get rewarded for your hard efforts. You’re getting screwed.
  7. P Put your foot down and tell them to write you up.
  8. Yea. They’re locked up and rationed out. Insane. Great plan.
  9. I think many of us are asking this question now: ”Do I really want to care and work for an organization that clearly doesn’t care about my own well being?” Scary part is, I beleive we are all finding out exactly how little organizations care about their labor staff beyond what we cost to their bottom line.
  10. Well I’m glad a sample from the entire country shows much of the same. no PPE, no clear directive and massive amount of hours being cut to save the bottom line. Seems to me nobody knows how to bend and adapt for a crisis. If there is no policy written then nobody in administration knows what to do or how to provide clear focused direction. It’s just hammer mass emailing everyone 3-7 minutes with a new poorly written guideline that’s 9 pages long to which nobody has the time to read anyway? Clear...simple...direction. 5-7 sentences. Twice a day. Keep it simple. Supportive care. Staff as if you are full even if you aren’t. Those that aren’t caring for patient engage in triage and mass triage exercises. Keep your employees working Atleast for 7-14 days. Then lay off if need be. But don’t ask people to stay home without pay and tell them they can’t apply for unemployment when the census is low. What’s going on is insane.....
  11. And we can all start by standing together. Instead of tearing eachother apart. You know why physicians run hospitals ? Because they stand together! nurses kill eachother. And when we can get past that and stand together, and allow administrators Of hospitals to understand that it’s the nurse at every level that keeps the hosptial doors open.....then and only then will you start to see better treatment/hazard pay and AT THE LEAST a supply of PROPER PPE. leadership fails. Instead of taking accountability and fixing their failure they cut from the bedside nurse and continue on. AND WE NURSES ALLOW IT. we can thank ourselves. Every negative punitive post in here, you’re part of the problem. Stand together and demand to fix these problems and nursing will evolve like you’ve never imagined.
  12. Because generally hospitals don’t care about their employees. They don’t care about the nurses. They care about their bottom lines. we are in a world wide pandemic to which the federal govt has stated they will provide relief in grants/loans and tax abatements. YET HOSPTIALS ARE STILL STAFFING TO GRIDS. And without enough PPE. how many of you out there are having hours CUT? The media stating huge bonuses for nurses etc....but what I’m seeing is the opposite. Ffor the first time in my 10 year career I’m seeing runny nosers not use the ER like a PCP office. And the hospital census is way down. And what’s the hosptial doing ? Cutting hours. Staffing to grids ??? In a crisis? Worrying about the bottom line, not worrying about the welfare of their employees. It speaks volumes about what’s truly going on here. Asking nurses to take voluntary furlough so they can’t collect unemployment when they slash OR hours ? What kind of madness is this ? We do dedicate ourselves overtime, extra hours, coming in early. Punching out and staying late....working through lunch for free for years and years...but then during a crisis we continue to get abused because the census is low ? Do hospital systems and their administrations care about nurses or is it all “talk” ? It’s looking like all talk in my area. Hopefully you all are experiencing different, but I guarantee there are a lot of reading eyes on this post that are seeing exactly what I’m seeing. Ladies and gentlemen when is enough, enough ?
  13. 256 csh. Blacklick Ohio. As far as bolc. You'll do bolc phase 1 online. It's like 80 hours of online instruction. And then you'll go to bolc phase 2 in Texas. As a reservist you have 2 years to complete it after you start drilling.
  14. A lot of schools claim to be military friendly. Still here are asshat professors who will you give you ****. I experienced that in my program. Msn programs are easier in the reserves in my opinion. That way you can work part time at most, drill and complete the program.
  15. What unit are you in?
  16. I did something before my commission. It was like 4 events. Seated ball throw. Long jump. Dead lift Line to line timer style suicide run. (Like high school whistle sprint to line. Whistle. Sprint to line until you fail.) I think I go through 9 levels off the couch. Passing is 6th level 1 volley. Not sure if that's even correct terminology.... its not difficukt but the oassing standards are on he internet. I rememebwr I googled it before I was set to do it. I was nervous for nothing. Pretty easy. I'm 5-11, 170 lbs. with the build of a runner. I'm not that great for heavy lifting but I still maxed the dead lift at 220lb. It's not bad your legs are stronger than You'd think. Drink a lot of water before hand. Well I mean make sure your well hydrated. You don't want to do this with a stomach full of water. Eat light small breakfast etc. you'll be fine. Marine pretty ouch explained it better than I did. Just realized this. That's why edited
  17. Exercises? You're gonna be well dressed in a suit.....what kinda exercises thry expect you to do.
