  1. Hi, does anyone know how much they pay for home health nurses in Texas? Are they hourly, salary, or per visit? Mileage reimbursement?
  2. Hi, does anyone know how much they pay for home health nurses in Oklahoma? Are they hourly, salary, or per visit? Mileage reimbursement?
  3. Do you know the range of annual salaries there for home health? 60k, 70k?
  4. Anyone know the salaries for home health RN's in Georgia? Per visit rate and SOC rates? mileage? Number of visits per week?
  5. What area is that for? Is pay more in the Atlanta area? Also, any idea what LVN pay is in nursing homes.
  6. That's the downside to getting paid by points or per visit. If there's no visits you make nothing that day. With that said if the company is getting a lot of referrals then you can take advantage and do more visits which equals more $. There's always a slow period in the Winter because people are not getting elective surgery done because of holidays. In California I made $140k last year getting paid per visit. I always made sure I saw at least 6 patient's a day.
  7. Find a per diem home health job that will allow you to work on your days off just so you can get some experience and see if you like it or not. Alot of nurses in California work in hospitals and will pick up a few visits or SOC's after their shifts or on days off to get some extra cash.

Same. We had a meeting discussing with therapists about quality over quantity when it came to visits. Im guessing agenicies will be cutting therapy staff or paying less for them. We'll see how it goes for Nursing.

Any thoughts on what it's going to be like for us HH nurses next year? The way I read it there is no reimbursement for therapy visits so I'm guessing the PT/OT/ST's are going to take a hit or agencies will be cutting staff back.
  12. You can call the patient 30 mins to an hour of you going to the visit and request for the pets to be put outside or in another room. You are there for the patient not to entertain their pets. Some of the hospitals actually tell the patient's to do this when they're discharged. As mentioned above you will see a lot more than just pets. In my 3 years of HH I've seen guns, drugs, hoarders, meth addicts, halfway houses, bed bugs, rats to name a few. None of it really phases me after awhile it just becomes the norm. I agree with Zippy83 as well the job does take over your life in a way. I get calls in the evening and weekends from patients even though we have a 1-800 number and have what feels like a never ending amount of documentation to complete.
  13. Home health visits at minimum should be 30 minutes not 45 that's per medicare guidelines and must include a skilled intervention or a teaching on your documentation. I'm not sure how one would do the 12-14 patient's in a day.. Don't you have to have your patient's electronically sign the visit note that leaves a time stamp or is everything done on paper? 2-3 hour visit sounds like you are spending waaaaay too much time at the patient's home. Are you going over the entire diabetes chapter from your A&P book? Maybe you need to rethink your approach and start using handouts or something. Most of the patient's just want you to come in make a little small talk, do what you got to and leave. Yes there are some who are long winded but should only be an hour max. I usually just bring in a pen and paper make notes and chart outside in the car or when i get home in front of the TV. $65-85/visit $130-160/SOC here in Northern California. I work for two agencies and pick up from the other if one is slow.
  14. LOL. That's why sometimes I find it's easier just to see the patient myself and get the visit over with than to have to explain to someone else even if it's technically my day off. I'm surprised the pharmacy didn't just send cathflo to the home to clear the PICC. I've done it about 5 times in the home for both Medicare-Medi-cal patients may be different depending where you're at I'm in California. Did you try ostomy paste or the eakins barrier for the leaks on the wound vac? Where is the wound?
  15. I did the Kaplan Live Online Reviewer in 2016. it teaches you how to break down each question regardless if you know the pathophys of the disease or not. The way the review works is you go online with a live instructor and she goes through questions and breaks them down. You also get access to practice questions.
