  9. Parent Meetings

This branches off my of Beginning of the Year Checklist post, but I wanted to now ask more specifically about meeting with parents of students with health issues before school starts. Of course in a perfect world, you'd line everyone up a week before...
  10. Beginning of Year Checklist

Yes we do have action plans for asthma, anaphylaxis, etc. in place. They just need to be tailored a bit for individual students. I am expected to do staff training on EpiPen indications and use. I was told to send out a powerpoint on anaphylaxis to ...
  11. MA nursing

I'm a MA RN and have my initial school nurse license through the MA DESE. You are right, you have to take three classes: Intro to School Nursing in MA (which is a 2 day course), Med Administration and Delegation in MA Schools (1 day) and Mandated Scr...
  12. Beginning of Year Checklist

Thank you for your input! We do have a pretty well organized health services department. We have relatively uniform forms, and all the nurses in my district follow the same P/Ps and do all the same record keeping. Thankfully, not entirely up to me, a...
  13. Beginning of Year Checklist

Hi everyone, I know it's only July, but I'm relatively new to school nursing so forgive my prematurity. I just want to be as prepared for the hectic start of school as possible! Does anyone have a tried and true checklist they use to make sure they'r...
  14. New Medicine Cabinet/Storage

Hi all- I'll be working in an elementary school next year and am looking to give the health office a much needed facelift! The walls desperately need painting, less harsh lights are in order and the soap dispenser would be more helpful if it actually...
  15. Potential New School Nurse (Fingers Crossed!)

Had my second interview today! I didn't get the warm and fuzzies, but maybe that's just how it is. Met with the principal, assistant principal (both I met before) and Director of Student Services. They asked me a few questions I already answered, I g...
