1st semester has clinical on Wednesdays that last from maybe 6am to 1pm? It depended a lot on which professor you had and I can't remember the details but it's 4 rotations. Just finished 2nd semester and we had 12 hour shifts once a week. Either on T...
I absolutely love it. I hear some horror stories about some of the surrounding programs and am so happy I chose Alvin. It's a tough school to get into but worth the wait. I was put on that wait list or whatever it is called the first time then I got ...
I'm a second semester student at alvin. They didnt accept any of the sciences after 5 years when i applied so maybe call their nursing office and ask. It really just depends on the day and the semester with time but we always got out by 3:30. Usually...
First semester you will be going to long term care facilities which are essentially nursing homes. It's 4 weeks of rotations. I am a 2nd semester student so I just finished up this semester. You will love alvins program. Good luck! Edit* tried to qu...
I know the feeling. Regardless of where we go we have the ability to become a skilled RN. At the end of the program we are all RN's in the same boat :) Good luck with your future education!
Alvin is number 7 in the state and number 2 out of all of the Houston area. Com isn't in the top 10 in the Houston area. My thoughts are that each program may be better for a different person. From my understanding, com has a great nursing program. ...
For everyone on the alternate list, I will be declining the COM acceptance bc I got into Alvin. Good luck everyone on the alternate list and congratulations to everyone who got into nursing school! :) I wish you all luck in your future
One of my really good friends just finished her first semester in alvins program and she said she nearly died lol. But yes from what I hear, alvin expects more out of their students and it is harder
I heard it's cause com lets students slide and if they don't pass the nclex the first time they pass it the second time. Alvin don't play. They hold students up to a higher standard and that's why they are so respected. Alvin is a harder program than...
When I checked my email I had an email for an update on here and I read "alvin community colleg" not knowing it was from allnurses and my heart nearly beat out of my chest! Lol I have been patient so far but geez! It's starting to get to me!
I also accepted. For anyone who is wondering, it does not give you any further information when you accept. I called the nursing office today to ask how long we have before all of our immunization records are due and the lady wouldn't tell me she jus...
So what I have read is that initially a student gets a decline status on web advisor.. Later on emails are sent out (I was accepted and haven't received the email yet) From my understanding, when the emails are sent out they also send out alternate l...
The nurse office secretary told me that its all done electronically so they don't sit there picking and choosing. I've heard so many rumors of ACC picking and choosing students not only from their grades but if they know the person.. I have absolutel...
Just because you didn't get accepted doesn't mean you won't get on the alternate list and get in. I'm pretty sure they don't send anything out to alternate listed students until the actual letters are sent out.
David, my score was either 766 or 776 They didn't know if they would be able to take my associate's degree or not because my transcript only showed all of my classes and not that I got a degree. I had just graduated the Saturday before the Monday dea...
