  1. Any CRNA's out there in southen CA willing to let me shadow?

Hi Qwiigley, I don't know if your offer to assist with shadowing still stands, but I would be greatly interested and appreciative. Working in SICU while getting my rn-bsn, so just need to take the next step of a shadow experience. Apparently I don't ...
  2. That's good to know - thanks for the replies!
  3. Hi, I'm currently an ICU nurse gathering enough time and experience to apply to school. I like change in life so I'm just wondering what other options a CRNA might have down the line if they tire of providing anesthesia. I can imagine teaching would ...
  4. Tell me what you like about your specialty......

SICU. Fresh from surgery so when things go wrong they can happen pretty quickly. Doable, but quite a steep learning curve for a new grad. Lots of things to learn, lots to remember, and be able to do it quickly. Not as much running around as the floor...
  5. They have won. I cried for the first time.

I'm in the same boat minus the extra schooling. I just got off SICU orientation a few weeks ago and it feels like they're waiting for me to fail - I dread it every time the educator comes by with, "I'm very concerned that..." Often I'm afraid to tou...
  6. CD-27: Good acoustics - just as good, maybe better than comparable Littman. The bell is quite heavy, to the point where I more often grab my Littman because the cd-27 rubs on my neck after awhile. Also, customer service was not too friendly for me.
  7. Worth it to work less for a better GPA?

For those who have an ADN and are working on their BSN for CRNA school, would you work less if it guaranteed higher grades? I'll be starting an online BSN program soon. I've always done pretty good in school so I'm sure I would be fine even while wor...
  8. A bit of a glitch

Here's my experience: Just graduated last may. Started in sept in step-down, all the while making contacts and letting it be known (except to the step-down manager) that I was interested in ICU. Opportunity arose and started SICU in january. Now I ju...
  9. To BSN, or not to BSN... your opinions please.

Thanks for the responses so far - yeah, I figure BSN it is just to be safe. I'm just trying to save some time and effort, that's all. Like I took a CNA course for a nursing school that I ended up not attending - no harm done, but I could've learned t...
  10. I have a 2001 BA in environmental science. Then I got an ADN in 2008. I just started SICU in January. My bachelor's GPA was about 3.3 and my last 60 units (ADN and pre-reqs) is 4.0. My question is whether I should go ahead and get a BSN before applyi...
