AMEN!! I quit their program, which might have been stupid, as I was already accepted into their program, but it was horrible how they would come back at you and tell you that the class that you took and that was required last summer is no longer need...

No, and I apologize for using the term kites. It's the medical forms inmates use to request medical care. I'm curious how others handle medical complaints. Do they write out their complaints or do they verbalize their complaints?

Here in Idaho, as an LPN, I work for the state. Pay is disgustingly low here. Starting @ $13 and some change. I've been there for five years and make considerably more, but I could still make $5/hour more at a hospital.

Sorry about the job Jassyj. If you thought that some employers would give you a bad review, can you exclude them from your applications? Just wondering... Also, they give psych evals? If they did this as the facility I work at, it would have indee...

In my facility, I would definitely report it to my supervisor immediately. I also report to her released inmates that I encounter on the outs... as per policy. :)

They can be the biggest whiners, criers, fakers and MANIPULATORS of anyone I've ever seen. In our facility, they go to school Monday thru Friday, 12 months out of a year. We have 4 med passes: Breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime. They have opportu...

1. I don't even remember, but I do know it's been changed to like a one day a week, nine week course for new employees. Nurses are given about a one month nursing training before they are on their own. 2. Yeah, but it's nothing more than common se...

Same here in Idaho. State workers hadn't had a raise in over 3 years and the Governor finally pushed through a 3% merit based raise. I'm making close to $17.00 an hour in a very rural setting and it's paying about $3-$4 an hour more than our local ho...

We have about 150 juveniles on a given day and we do blood draws, on average, about 4 days a week. LapCorp provided us a reference book which helps us distinguish what tubes go with what tests. Now, we just know it because we draw all the time. U...

I work in corrections. At a juvenile facility. We only have LPN's here. Our only RN is our supervisor. There are five of us if we are fully staffed. :)
Has anyone found it difficult to locate a good LPN position? I work in juvenile corrections and have been away from a hospital for a couple of years. An LPN whom we just hired and who just took her boards, said she had the hardest time finding a...

I changed from the BSN program to the ADN program at the local college. I have about 3 semesters left to go. :stone I wish we had a year LPN-RN ladder program here. How sweet that would be.
Ok... I just wanted to add my :) I wouldn't trade the way I'm doing this for anything. Being an LPN has made RN school much easier, plus, all the things I've learned, the areas I've worked, I wouldn't trade for one second. I'm glad I went to LPN sc...
Oh wow... what a good question! :) I work for the state in corrections, so my pay isn't that great. In fact, When I first started about 5 years ago, I took a $5.00 an hour pay cut to take my current job, but it was easier on my school schedule (g...
:) I've been an LPN forever it seems and I've never had a problem getting a job. I was asking this because of a new grad we just hired. She couldn't find a job as an LPN for miles. I was just putting this question out there for others.
I know this doesn't help one bit as I don't live in Illinois, but here in Idaho, LPN's can't hang TPN either. We can, according to our scope of practice guidelines, do dressing changes on multi med lines, but we can't hang anything on those ports o...
Hey Mark, How did boards go? Yeah, me too. In fact, I remember the hospital hosted a luncheon for my whole nursing class as an incentive to work there. I had many job offers before I graduated, but then again, that was over a decade ago. I was...

I started out in well baby nursery and then cross trained over into labor and delivery. I worked there for 7 wonderful years, but I just felt the need to move on and do something different. It was our duty to attend births and care for the baby imm...
Due to religious convictions, I do not celebrate many holidays including Christmas and Easter. My question is, if fellow co-workers were to find this out, would many of them be wanting to trade off with them? My guess is they probably would want to t...
