  1. Well the license they just sent me last month was like a credit card. It had my name, address, and some other info and I had to sign the back
  2. My job is going great. They're giving 2 weeks orientation since Im a new grad, Im working the night shift because I go to school during the day, and getting paid $20/hr with bebefits starting in 30 days...I can't complain. Any facility has issues or flaws and I seen that working as a CNA for the last 3 years so whatever they dish at me I think I can take it. The only fear I think I have is if there is a "problem" and I don't exactly follow the protocol, the next shift comes in complaining their ass off (I haven't experienced this personally, but still). I think it's ridiculous when charge nurses don't work together and they're constantly putting the blame on each other...What happened to team work and team nursing? But other than that I like the place :)
  3. Hello, I'm also pursuing my RN degree. I haven't actually started an RN program yet, but I'll get there. I graduated high school in June 2003 and only did one semester of prerequisite classes and then I was accepted into the LVN program Spring 2004 and graduated Spring 2005. So, right now I'm trying to finish up my prereq classes for which ever RN program I get accepted to. I think for right now Im going to do the ADN route since it's only a 1 year LVN-RN ladder program. :)
  4. The number of questions you get means absolutely nothing. Each persons tests is different to a certain degree. When the computer feels that you are well enough above or way below the "pass line" then it will shut off. The pass line is basically when the computer feels that you are competent enough to practice safetly and effectively as a nurse. When you go up to 205, as far as passing, the computer only looks at the last 60 questions not the entire 205. The was told to me by my instructors and my NCLEX-PN review instructor. So don't second guess yourself, be positive, and good luck to u .
  5. Hi...I'm from California also. As far as recieving your letter from BVNPT saying your eligible to test solely depends on when your school mailed your application with $75 to the board. I doubt if it will take as long as the end of december to get your letter. Since you graduated in October, the board isn't bombarded with a lot of applications like during the summer and december/january. Once you get your letter, I suggest you pay the $200 online for your test and within 5 minutes of payment you can schedule your test online as early as the next day if available. Now if you take the other route by paying by mail or phone, it'll take longer to get the paperwork to schedule your test. Once you schedule and take your test, it should take no longer than 3 weeks to get your results if you schedule your test before the december/january "rush." When you pass, you pay $100 for your license and then it should take about 2 weeks to recieve your license. I hope this was helpful for you... GOOD LUCK
  6. I also took my test and stopped at 85, this was in September. I thought I didn't pass. I had A LOT of priority questions, but I passed. Since California doesn't have quick results I had to wait 2 weeks for my letter. Good Luck!!! Im sure you passed
  7. While doing clinical for OB, in L&D there were only RNs because of the IV's i guess, and there was LVN/LPNs and RNs on the postpartum floor. But I think some place do hire LVN/LPNs in L&D, but it'll probably be hard to find...GOOD LUCK
  8. Thanks for the CONGRATS you guys... OMG,I'm nervous and excited :uhoh21: I'll keep you guys posted
  9. ajohnsonLVN? That is what I am using now , also the Nursing Education Consultants Nclex practice exam. How did the Q & A do for you? I have been on that one cd for a week now and I take my test NOV 4th. AmyMarie Honestly I didn't finish the Q & A... I burnt myself out by studying with the Saunders comprehensive. What I did after each chapter for the comprehensive, I typed each chapter up in my words...so I had a stake of papers. Instead of carrying around that heavy book, I had my summarized notes. I felt the Q & A was very repetitive of what was in the comprehensive book and CD, but that may work for some people... I still recommend both books though:wink2:
  10. Hey guys... I just wanted to annouce that I got my first job as a LVN. It's not at a hospital on a MED-SURG unit that my instructors practically demanded that we get, but it's a very nice nursing facility in Huntington Beach, CA. It has a snf, icf, and assisted living...it's really great. I start orientation on Monday, I'm so happy!!!
  11. Did you take the ATI test after you graduated, it's the "mock" NCLEX-PN exam. If you didn't, maybe you can see if you can take it. I believe it is administered through Kaplan. What is does is break down each area from Med-surg to pediatrics and gives you your percentage of how you scored as an individual and your national percentage. It helped me focus on my weak areas. I also used Sauders Comprehensive Review and Sauders Q & A. Good Luck:)
  12. :balloons: :balloons: yah!!!! congrats 2 u:balloons: :balloons:
  13. Okay, you really need to calm down. My test also shut off at 85 and I was soooo anxious and worried and kept second guessing myself. The only reason I felt this way was because a coworker of mine graduated 3 years ago, took the test 3 times, and still haven't passed. Each time her test stopped at 85 but that was because she wasn't studying. The first thing you need to ask yourself is : Did my questions repeat themselves? Meaning did you see the same context come up over and over. So far everyone from my class has passed, we even had a girl go up to 205 and she still passed. Think positive, I know being in CA sucks because you have to wait forever to get your results. I took my test on 9/15 got my results back 10/3 and I passed, so you should be getting your results in about 2 weeks. So relax, be calm, and be prepared to callyourself a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  14. Hey Everyone, I had a couple questions. I stay in California and we don't have quick results. I took my test 9/15 and recieved my letter 10/3 that I had passed so I sent in my $100.00 on 10/6. My first question is : In California how long does it take BVNPT to cash a personal check? My second question is : Is it okay for me to apply for jobs without my license but show my letter that I passed? I'm just trying to find a job now that way when my license comes in I can start working immediately instead looking for a job after my license comes in. :imbar
