Applying for a job

Published

Hey Everyone, I had a couple questions.

I stay in California and we don't have quick results. I took my test 9/15 and recieved my letter 10/3 that I had passed so I sent in my $100.00 on 10/6. My first question is : In California how long does it take BVNPT to cash a personal check? My second question is : Is it okay for me to apply for jobs without my license but show my letter that I passed? I'm just trying to find a job now that way when my license comes in I can start working immediately instead looking for a job after my license comes in. :imbar

Have no answer to your questions but do want to say congrats on passing. Good luck to you. :)

To cash my check i think it was cashed within a week, but it still took them 3 - 4 weeks for me to get my license in the mail. If you still have the form that says you passed with your picture on it. Make several copies and take those with you to job places. Not everyone will hire you, but some people will. The first place I went and applied I got hired with that form. Some will make you wait until you get the actual license. Congratulations!

I would think that you could show them your letter that your passed. Is it possible for you to retrieve your license online? In Florida I go to the BON (online) and can see a copy of my license. I don't know if every state is different.

Congrats on passing!!

Yes, it would be okay for you to go and look for a job, and even get hired. California does things differently than most other states for the LVNs in terms of licensure format. You will usually see your name on their website before you will get the hard license in the mail. As soon as you have an actual license number assigned to you, that your job can verify, you are all set to begin work. You do not need the physical license in hand, just the number for most employers to actually be able to begin.
