  1. just so you can rest and not feel as if you commited a sin, in the bible it has never been a sin to divorce. The grounds for divorce were strife between Abraham's two wives and strife between their children. God approved of the divorce on those grounds (Genesis 21:12-13). There is no suggestion of adultery or other sexual misconduct by Hagar. So this, the Bible's first reference to divorce, refutes the concept that the only biblical basis for divorce is adultery.
  2. very much so. just knowing how things work, being comfortable talking to and working with patients, knowing how to put the chart togather and enter orders correctly, what paper work needs to be done for this or that like transfering a patient, CT, cardio cath ect...ect... just knowing/being familiar with all that is huge and will allow you to focus on whats going on with the patient and why they are getting this treatment or med. i like working in the CCU and started as a new grad. if you are good and up on your cardio patho no worries just ready the atropine and go for it.
  3. as i guy i dont really understand why you feel the need to convey anything about your life and ambitions to an ex. will still need to deal with him regaurding your your kids so must be civial to him. a little advice, only talk with him about things that concern the kids nothing else. by trying to convey your feelings about nursing or wanting to help others your sharing a form of intancy which gives him hope, why he keeps trying to control the situatioin. its really up to you to break this cycle. hard i know, but you must act in a matter of fact way when dealing with him. if you need to tell him anything about your plans do just that, tell him. no need to explain anything, if he ask why just say "look, this is the decsion i made" and leave it at that. dont give him false hope. dont call him unless its about the kids. BTW how long have been seperated?
  4. phhuuaaa hahah, now thats an image i didnt need in my head. yeah, no problem. move away. it will be interesting seeing what people think about it. i actually was talking to some of my co-workers about it, today.
  5. wow a lot happend sence my last visit. sorry everyone. sometime one goes way off into left feild to get a point across, my bad. sorry, will try to be a good boy from now on. yeah big time. nursing is going towards a more analytical thinking nurse. but then again with most hospitals trying to force or as they say give "guide lines" to get obtain a team aproach to pt care favors the female mind. i found this, by accident, read through it, its very interesting. give it a look. http://www.mens-rights.net/sexism/education.htm
  6. hey welcome. yeah i too think it is a great idea to be a CNA while going to school for your RN. you might also look into EMT. i got my EMT while doing prereq's until my second semester as a RN student. was able to study in the ambulance between calls. (where most of my studying was done) after my first semester got a job as a student nurse (basically the same thing as a CNA, can do a little more and the pay is slightly higher than a CNA) something to think about anyway. wheather CNA or EMT or student nurse the experiance is well worth it. kudos to you on your foresight.
  7. really, saying i hope you increase the risk of cancer in women sounds better coming from a lic professional? here is the definition of fairy. search dictionary: email this page to a friend fairy godmother > fair-y (fâr) key noun: pl. fair-ies a tiny imaginary being in human form, depicted as clever, mischievous, and possessing magical powers. offensive slang used as a disparaging term for a homosexual man. this is not the urban text but the dictionary definition or the word fairy.
  8. yeah maybe your right. but this is what got me." Hopefully you're contributing to these women's increased risk for cervical cancer by being one of her many partners! Go you!" dont think this needed to be said. also think using fairy is not as bad as wishing cancer on someone. if she did not like me using fairy, cool, but dont go here. seems more acceptable to wish cancer on someone, sarcasm or not. wishing cancer on someone should not be more acceptable than using the word fairy. BTW check this about the word fairy 1. fairy a male who acts slightly feminine but not neccessary means that they are gay. look at that guy over there, what a fairy. 2. fairy 1) A little magical sprite with insect wings. Usually either grants wishes or wreaks mischief. 2) A gay man who acts more stereotypically feminine than most straight women. "Do you really expect us to believe that there's a fairy in your mother's garden?" "Have you noticed that as soon as Joe came out, he turned into an utter fairy?" 3. fairy A male homosexual (rude and derogatory) Her boyfriend lost his job because he called the manager a fairy. so the word fairy means a feminine man in urban text.
  9. so i can not type and was not writing an essay. BTW it is not a contest so why do i win. if you quote my post and give negitive feedback with those rationals, you should expect a reply like you got. i see you are full of sarcasm. have some pent up anger or just avoiding some other feelings. you may not agree with what i have to say but no need to start off with childish sarcasm. or are you just trying to flame up the thread.
  10. ???? what are talking about? well i have to live with fairy men so you have to live with me calling them fairy men, if the shoe fits. or maybe girly men is a better saying. so call me a brut, some how i think i will get over it. na your way off. was not trying to prove myself in any way. never even talked about any women i hooked up with. but you think people dont hook up in the hospital than your thinking is very naive. and the ratio just gives guys more opportunity, you can not see that? yes, it would be. BTW this does happen very often. maybe you are just naive. why would you even say this. are you bitter about something or just wish bad things on others. just because one can sleep around does not mean they do, besides never said anything close to saying i do. never tried, but being as sensitive as you are i am geussing you play on a defferent field than i. perhaps even a different game althogather.
  11. i wonder if the people saying keep the shirts on have ever been to california. everyone walks around with no shirts during the summer months. a calender with guys with no shirts would not be all that sexy here. heck, most bikini's show more than most bra and panties. if you live Utah or something i guess it could be shocking but, most will not think of it one way or the other, its just a calender. besides the more that people complain about it the more others will want to see what all fuss is about and go out and get one.
  12. lol, yeah this thread went all the way to left field. just do it, even out of spite. i mean no matter what you do, even if nothing, there will be some that say its wrong. we have the should b's posting in here and the way it is saying they will buy one so go for it. need two more models to fill the last two months, i will be Mr. May if you need. am also a lifegaurd and was on the water polo/swim team in college, still in good shape and will wear just my speedos and a stethescope if need be. wait, i got an idea. how about doing a calender with fat over wieght guys in a speedo's. hehehe
  13. hey this sounds like me. love the life style.
  14. i love 12's. worked mostly 8's but now working only 12 hour shifts. i think 12 hour shifts give you more time to care for your patients. 8 hours by the time you finish your assessments and give meds take your lunch its time to get ready for report, no time to really care for your patients, other than just the priorities. with 12's you get the time you need. have more time to spend with your patient, taking care of the little things, which makes them feel like they are more than just an assignment. plus, most of the time, you get to give and recieve report from the same nurse, no saying the last shift messed this up or forgot that. and the four days off a week totally prevents the burn out thing. 8 hours 5 days a week burns me out way more than 3 days on 12 hour shifts. i mean you have more than half the week off, half your life spent home. getting ready for work and drive time ect..ect.. takes up a lot of time in life, with 8's you need to do this 5 times a week, that time adds up. end up spending a lot of your supposed own time doing things for work anyway. my o2 anyway
  15. humm, i dont know. i am glad you say go fot it. but for the reputation of male nurses, well, being refered to as a male bimbo sounds better than being thought of as a gay nurse. although i have never been mistaken for being gay to my knowlegde. in most circles if you say i have a male friend who is a nurse, the first thought nowadays is , must be gay. would rather that group say a male nurse, must be areal player.
  16. no worries. lots of nurses over react to lice. dont know why really but at my work there have been a few times a patient came in with lice and everyone freaked. the same people "nurses" that took care of patients with TB, MRSA, hep C ect.. ect...with out ever reacting, but when a patinet comes in with lice all of the sudden everyone is wearing a bio suit, even if it is not their patient. i dont understand it but rest asured you are not the only one that freaks out about it. i think its goes back to grade school when all the kids tease the other kids with lice. even after we educate ourselves in the back of our minds we still hear those grade school voices. then some just freak because they are little creepy crawly things. i dont think it has any effect on being a good nurse or not. lots of nurses will never see lice in their entire career. if any thing it gives you a little perspective on your thoughts about it, a good thing. we must know our reactions to certain type patients inoder to be "good" nurses. i could never work in certain areas becasue of how i would react to the patients. knowing that helps me provide the best care for my patients, and when i refuse to care for a certain patient because of my own feelings that too helps that patient, allowing someone else who can provide good care. no big, doesnt mean i am not a good nurse, just a nurse that is human.
  17. easy bro, that would be really stupid. why risk your lic. if your going to do anything do it then and there, at least it would be self defense. waiting for him after work or keying his car is a lame idea and would get you nailed for aggravated assault. bye bye lic. dude, at least be real about it. so i am wondering, did some guy do a little more than grope you in your past? lol, sorry man had to go there.
  18. this is why IMO. if your anything like me. i work best when stressed or very busy. if its real slow thats when this could happen to me. i make it a point to stay busy and keep my mind alert during down times. for me this is when things are the hardest. give me 50 things to do right now and i will not forget a thing. give me 5 things to do and 12 hours to do it i will forget to do one of them. just that. leave it behind you . of course learn from it and set up things so it will not happen again. change your routine while giving meds. look back and think, not about the mistake, but about those times you are most vulnerable and likely to make mistakes. best way to deal the distraction at those times. you know get a plan and go with it.
  19. good question. i think it is ok to tell a family member about certain procedures or what the patient has, like cancer, and the disease process, if the patient consented to it. but telling a patients family or even the patient about his/her specific condition and what it means is up to the doctors.
  20. too funny, lol. come on now nurses have been a sex symbol for years. maybe not male nurses but, female nurses sure have, at least some of them. so why not guys too. if i was asked to do one i would no dout. now if the vetran female nurses said your promoting nurses as a sex symbol. i would have to say yep! and helping kids at the same time, life is good. did you want a signed copy? maybe even give one to them for X-mas (guessing the calender will be for next year).
  21. lol. good point. i think he/she is just confused though.
  22. no dout, i think from my trainning it helps big time in keeping a level head during those heated times. wheather heated times during a code or handling a combative patient.
  23. never went to college there not even high school. so dont really know. i am sure a lot has changed. just go check it out. stay with it and dont worry about what anyone tells you, just keep going and working hard towards reaching your goals. BTW, all schools say they are top nursing schools. its not the school you go to so much as you. one school a friend of mine goes to has 98% pass rate the pate few years, but only about half the student who go there finish the program. some schools only have a 80% pass rate but 90% of the students entering finish so which is the best?? IMO it all comes down to you and your determination. good luck with what ever you decide. personallyu i would move to hermosa beach or something where there is more opertunity.
  24. aahhh yeah lived in menifee valley a while ago. not much out there. i took a major loss in pay to become a nurse. use to make double what a good nurse salary is. so for me money could be better but its good enough for me more about other things. plan on putting those on hold when you get into the program. most definitely. i think most will not let you apply, tell you have completed all but one or two of the pre-reqs. and those have to be in progress. check your school though, kinda hick vill over there, so might get lucky. but should apply as soon as possible. and focus on doing good on your pre-reqs that might help with the waiting more than anything.
  25. huumm well depends on that colleges way of doing things. some go by G.P.A. while others use a lottery and some just put you on the list. where in cali are you? just curious because you said there is only one college you could commute to..
