  1. Because RN grads are qualified and can also work as RPNs once they are licensed? It's not that hard to comprehend.
  2. Good luck in your new position! I am starting my job at a LTC as a Nurse Manager tomorrow. I don't know how to feel about it.
  3. Canadian NCLEX is the same as US NCLEX. There's no difference. Even I've seen American values used on the Canadian exam. I took mine in December.
  4. I don't know. I've seen that behavior at my work before and it has never bothered me as long as they clean up the area after clipping their nails. I'd rather sit with a coworker that is doing that than to clean disgusting bodily fluids.
  5. What bothers you more? Cleaning up poop or seeing your coworkers clip their nails at the nursing station?
  6. Are you implying that for each SATA, there is only one wrong answer?
  7. I don't understand your argument. There is NO way all answers in a SATA question are correct. Did you even write the NCLEX? What makes SATA difficult to answer is that it is either you know the topic of the question really well, or you don't. You cannot second guess any answers. However, I personally loved the SATAs on my exam and prayed to God that I received more while writing the exam.
  8. No one ever replies on Indeed. The GTA is oversaturated of nurses unfortunately. Are you willing to relocate outside of Ontario? Good luck on your job search! I hope we both find something good!
  9. I have but I haven't heard from the HR yet. I have no idea why they are not responding to my applications. Are they still hiring by any chance? And which hospital it? I'm willing to take outpatient clinics in the hospital too if given the chance...
  10. No, only the guy from SK was friendly. The rest seemed exhausted and we're ready to go home. I went very late in the afternoon so that's probably why their mood was low. All they did was refer me to their website and gave me their pamphlets. Also, some of them are looking for speciality nurses like ICU and critical care which I am not certified to work in.
  11. Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it. I was recently hired by a nursing agency in the GTA but they are not providing any on floor preceptorship/orientation. I know it's dangerous for my license but at this point, I am very desperate for a job. I am reluctant to accept any shifts but I have to start soon if I want to gain some RN experiences.
  12. I also went to the job fair and they encouraged me to keep applying on their website. I feel like it was a waste of time attending the event.
  13. HR usually sends an email saying "We regret to inform you that we will not be pursuing your candidacy for this Registered Nurse...."
  14. I am a new RN. I graduated last year. I guess I'm not really a new grad anymore...
  15. I've applied to Saskatchewan, Manitoba, BC and every hospital in the GTA and north of ON like Owen Sound. I haven't tried Orangeville yet, do the hospitals there like to hire new grads?
  16. It seems to me that many hospitals are opting to hire experienced nurses over new grads. Unfortunately, my consolidation is in a hiring freeze so despite my close professional relationship with the nurse manager, there's no way for me to be hired until their organization receives more funding from the government. To the new grads that got their acute care jobs, how did you apply for your position? I'm finding it hard to get through HR. My online applications are getting rejected left and right -- very discouraging. My other options are to apply elsewhere in Canada and be miserable for one year living in a rural area. I am not a fan of the prairies.
  17. Hi there, I have used Saunders, Uworld and NCSBN. However I didn't get to finish Saunders because I was running out of time.
  18. Hey there. I'm sorry to hear about your exams. I'm also a Canadian tester and I failed my exam last week with 265 questions and received near passing on all categories. Like what the other user said, I find it difficult to apply what I read to clinical scenarios. When I had exhibit questions, I couldn't figure out what the question was asking me for. I would look at the answers and then the lab values or info listed on the exhibit and look for something abnormal and go from there but then get stuck after that. I am at a loss and I don't know what to do next. I've been using Uworld and I get the questions wrong because I end up either doubting myself or not reading the answers properly-- I guess those played a critical factor in me failing my exam.
  19. Congratulations on passing the NCLEX! I've been using the NCSBN review but I find it boring to read each lecture. Perhaps, I should only focus on reviewing my areas of weaknesses instead like you said and see if this will work for me. I'm a repeat tester...just recently failed. How much time do you recommend to review each section?
  20. Hey there, Canadian first time tester here. It sounds like we wrote a similar exam except I had 265 questions and probably 10 exhibits but they were critical thinking ones with multiple diagnoses, lab values and progress notes. Sometimes the question was so vague that I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. I think that if you got that many questions, it could mean that you were doing so well that the computer deemed you competent enough in all areas and stopped the exam. Take a break and have some fun for the next two days and don't worry about your score until you get the letter. I mean that's what I am trying to do to cope with my high anxiety level. I walked out of the testing centre feeling crushed. I'm more worried about the pharmacology questions I got because that's my area of weakness. Anyway, I pray that we both passed the exam. We worked so hard to get to where we are.
