  1. First interview advice

Just like Gr4ceffa said, sell yourself. They'll know you're a new grad so they'll probably ask you about things you would know.Maybe they'll ask a priority question in regards to caring for a patient or ask you to talk about a time a patient was diff...
  2. NURSING SHOES!!

New Balance 990 with insoles work for me.
  3. Taking Nclex, but didn't pass ATI

The Board will not clear you to take the NCLEX until your school lets them know you are clear. If the school requires the exit exam, they wont send your name to the board until you pass.
  4. Nclex Mastery App

I really liked it. I recommend it! I used it through my last year in nursing school and while studying for the NCLEX. I would do on it when I was in line or waiting for anything, I would do questions. I would screenshot the one I got wrong and studie...
  5. Taking the NCLEX tmrw @ 1400 :D

    Good luck!!
  6. Reference Cards and Pocket Guides?

I actually ended up making my own lab card with what I needed. I laminated it with thick tape and kept it on me. The ones from amazon didn't quite work for me but some of my classmates did have those and they liked them. I did purchase a miniature dr...
  7. NCLEX in a FEW days, Yikes!'

Good luck! I just took mine two days and I passed. I only used Kaplan and I was really happy with it. It really helps you to look at the question and figure out what they are asking. It also helped me get better and SATA and prioritization questions.
  8. Which prereq classes are cool to take online

I took, Psych, Nutrition, and sociology online. I took them online from my local community college.
  9. California BreEZe RN

I am assuming "OPEN" means it is being reviewed. I'm in California and the best way of getting an idea of when you will receive your ATT is by looking at the processing times on the BRN website. It will show what applications they are currently revie...
  10. How to get to NCLEX ?

At my school, they would not send your paperwork to the state until you passed the exit exam. Even if you do find a state that lets you sit for the NCLEX, they would still need the paperwork from your school.
  11. Ideal Job?

I had to repeat chemistry and I barely passed microbiology but I loved nursing school. They are completely different things.
  12. California NCLEX ATT

I graduated mid-December, I submitted my application on December 20, and I got my ATT last friday.
  13. Taking Anatomy and Chem at the same time.

When I took anatomy and chemistry together I was working full time. Unfortunately, chemistry was very hard and I ended up having to repeat it but I did get an A in anatomy. It's not foolish if you can handle the content of both classes but be aware t...
  14. Dividers!

I keep no more than 3 classes (two dividers) in a three inch binder. More likely, I only keep two classes in a three ring binder so that by the end of the semester I don't have a bulging binder.
  15. TEAS V - How to tackle?

I can tell you that I took my TEAS after I took chemistry and I did well on it. I also used the TEAS study guide. Do you have the practice tests? If so, I suggest that you take the practice tests and see how you do. If you are passing then maybe you ...
  16. Clinical question

Do you have skills lab hours at your school where you can practice? If not, practice on friends, classmates, or family members; the more you do it, the more you will know it when you do it in clinical.
  17. Question about Nursing Schools in CA!

Have you looked on the BRN website at the approved colleges? It shows the schools by ADN, BSN, MSN types. If you are willing to do an ADN college, some give extra points in their application to students who already have a degree.
  18. The Second Week

Don't have a mental breakdown, it is only your first quiz. I'm guessing tests are worth more and you'll have a chance to make up for this quiz grade. I say that because, for me, nursing tests were a different kind than other class tests and so I had ...
  19. Clinical instructor keeps handing out clinical warnings?

It seems like she was right to give you all three warnings because you were not prepared. At my school, coming unprepared or not knowing a procedure was cause for a write-up, two of those and we failed clinical. I suggest you attend skills lab to pra...
  20. where do you learn blood draws

We practice on an arm but in our second year, if there is an opportunity during clinical, we do it since we require 3 IV starts by the end of nursing school.
  21. Does anyone know Spanish?

I know Spanish and it has helped me so much! It really comes in handy when communicating with patients and their families. I would suggest classes but also lots and lots of practice, it really does help to commit the new language to memory.
  22. - A good penlight (the one from my school was no good) -Permanent marker -Retractable pens (so they don't stain your uniform) - A small drug book (small enough to fit in your pocket) - Good scissors (they come in very handy!) - Good stethoscope (the ...
  23. Embarrassed and depressed

Living at home is not a bad thing and please don't feel like a loser because of it. I just graduated nursing school and quite a few students lived with their parents. I live with my mother and I am 32. I do not feel like a 16 year old because I am an...
  24. Almost Done?? Who else?

I passed my final last week, took my comp predictor Monday, nine more preceptorship days and done! Congratulations!
  25. Pre Nursing Students...Arc!

I took my micro, and physio by themselves since I was working full time too. I believe this helped me get a better grade in each of those classes. I wasn't a straight A student either.
