  1. Well I don't actually believe this is true. I have several friends in different BSN programs, but I also have my husband who is in Medical School. He has been studying for STEP 1 for over a year and he still has a lot more to study. I also think the contents are different so it's not that comparable either. People should stop trying to compare medical school and nursing school. OP, you need to do what makes you happy in life. Medical school is no joke, very competitive to get into, but if it is what you want, then you need to start trying. My cousin had to apply 3 times to get into medschool and had to retake the MCAT 3 times too, but it was worth it at the end.
  2. CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm so glad you got in. When I read all of your information (the one you posted here) I could not believe that you haven't been accepted yet, it almost made mad! So congratulations again! you deserve this so much.
  3. I do not have a previous degree and I was accepted to UTMB. They only eequired to have all the pre-reqs before school starts.
  4. They start looking at applications before the deadline, however, I don't think they would take away your spot just because you can also start a semester after.
  5. Wow, that's a lot of time! I wish you all have good news though. I wonder if they are going to keep sending out invites for interviews. I haven't sync my phone yet.
  6. No problem! My stats were: international GPA: 2.3 US GPA: 4.0 TEAS: 91-92% I dont remember the exact score I have also volunteer my entire life. I wish the best to all of you and hoping to see you in January!
  7. I interviewed the 29th of July. I'm surprised they let me know so early, since I was told it takes 4 weeks at least. Maybe you guys can call an ask? In mystar, instead of saying "complete" it changes to accept or decline.
  8. Yes haha
  9. My facebook name is Dalia Quiroz Providell. whats yours so I can Add you? :)
  10. I received a e-mail
  11. I just got accepted, too!
  12. I know! I don't really know why, I do know they are very well prepared (I have a friend that goes to TWU in Dallas). I heard that TWU nurses are liked over others in the Houston area from some people that work in MD Anderson, and then also from a friend that goes to UTHSC-Houston. I really don't know why. There's one thing that is unappealing to me (but it's a characteristic that my friend who goes to TWU likes), is that TWU has 4 semester but with summers in between, so it takes a bit longer to finish their BSN. I have been in both campuses (My husband goes to UTMB so I'm around a lot) and I was in TWU a lot when I lived in Dallas.. I really think they are both amazing schools, but I just liked the way UTMB works better; they have great student-counseling, they have an amazing simulation lab (That might not be the correct name), and they work with several good hospitals. I really think it ends up being a matter of personal preference and that you can't go wrong with either choice (UTMB, TWU or UTHSC).
  13. I don't really think it's better at all, I do think it depends on what you want. I personally like UTMB better, but from what I know, TWU nurses are preferred in the houston area. UTMB is my first choice though, so hopefully it will happen!
  14. Yes, that is true. That's why I'm applying to TWU as well, they really want high TEAS scores, good GPAs, and they give you points for having a previous BS (which I do not have though) and if you took the pre-reqs in TWU.
  15. Well, from what I have been told by them, the GPA is the least thing they consider, GPA and personal statement (that includes experience), and the interview, are more important than the TEAS score. And, if you have a TEAS score that they don't think is competitive and they really like you as a candidate, they just ask you to re-take the test.
  16. I think 20 hours without a job is more than doable if you are organized. My school would only let me take 18 hrs and I still had a lot of free time on my past two semesters, even with my part-time job.
  17. congratulations to all of you!!! :)
  18. Oh, well I have friends that had to scan their fingerprints and haven't been call for an interview, so I hope that this mean they will def. get one!!! I hope it doesn't takes that long either I'm already super anxious
  19. I thought we all had to get our fingerprints scan. I received that e-mail before even getting an interview. Or is there another scan? I interviewed last Wednesday and they told me I would be hearing back in 4-6 weeks .
  20. Mkar, whar sort of things did they ask you? i'm sure it went better than you think :)
  21. So how many more round of interviews are left? They are calling people this week, and probably next week aswell, but how many more
  22. I was actually in the same situation as you this summer. I could take philosophy (which I don't really like) or take advance spanish, since I'm hispanic. I choose to pick the class that would actually teach me something new, without being really hard (it is still considered a laid back class), instead of going for the easier route. I'm not saying it's wrong for you to take the mandarin class.. I'm just not sure if it will help you at all, but it will definitely NOT hurt your chances.
  23. What time is your interview? I'm a little worry, I don't understand why they didn't send me an email and instead they just call me. Did that happen to anyone else?
  24. My interview is on Wednesday. I never received an e-mail though, they called me and after that I received an e-mail with instructions.
  25. Yeah me too, I'm actually gonna apply for the summer semester as soon as I can lol
