About Live.Love.Nurse.♡

Live.Love.Nurse.♡ has 3 years experience.

I worked as a LPN in a assisted living facility for 1 1/2 years before coming into my current job in home health. I attend classes part time working towards a R.N. BSN degree. I love being a nurse and can't imagine doing anything different!

  1. Got a nurse aide fired... did I do the right thing?

Thank you everyone for being honest & offering your opinions! I have since realized that I was extremely frustrated on the day this happened and therefore, probably didn't handle it in the best way. Taking a picture may not have been my best deci...
  2. Freaking Out

Coming from someone who failed the NCLEX the first time, do practice questions. My first try, I didnt do many practice questions and I didnt study nearly enough. The next time around, I did tons and tons and tons of practice questions. I did about 2...
  3. Got a nurse aide fired... did I do the right thing?

Yes, it was addressed many times previously. Me and a few of the other nurses have spoken to her about what her duties are but she chose to ignore. She also is aware we are not allowed to sleep on shift, but chose to anyway. We also recently went to ...
  4. Got a nurse aide fired... did I do the right thing?

Hi everyone, I'll just get right into it. I work as a LPN in a group home with a few individuals with intellectual disabilities. We also have a nurse aide who comes and helps out during daylight hours. This specific nurse aide has given the nurses mu...
  5. LTC vs Assisted living

I have worked in an ALF for 2 years and I agree with what everyone else has said! It is not easy. Currently I am in charge of 43 residents, just me and one nursing assistant (our nursing assistants are not certified either). When rooms are full, I am...
  6. Hello, I have worked in LTC for about 2 years & I'm curious if anybody else has ever had this happen to them. I spend a lot of time with my residents. I maintain a professional nurse-patient relationship, making sure never to get too personal or ...
  7. What do you do when a pt goes into anaphylactic shock?

Okay, first, take a nice deep breath. Better? You will learn these things. Your instructors will not just throw you to the wolves on your first day. Prior to beginning clinicals, they should tell you more of what to expect. Also, my first clinical...
  8. Freaking out over nclex-pn!!

Flashcards! Tons of them! Use rubber bands to organize them into different categories.. example: pharmacology, med-surg, pediatrics, mother-infant, geriatrics, diabetes, mental disorders, etc. I failed my first attempt at nclex pretty badly, second...
  9. Did I do the right thing?

I work in an ALF and today one of my residents called me complaining of chest pain radiating down her left arm and SOB. When I checked her vitals, BP was normal but pulse was 122. This has happened with this particular resident before and it turned o...
  10. LPN who does not want to be an RN?

LPNtoRN, I see your point! I would be very frustrated as well. That is also something I am worried about for when I eventually look for a clinic/office job.
  11. LPN who does not want to be an RN?

Hello all! I'm a fairly new LPN, I graduated July '14 & I've been working at an assisted living facility since Dec '14. Since I became an LPN I've heard the same questions over and over..." when will you continue on to be an RN? Will you go strai...
  12. I am completely burned out

Do you feel that way about the job itself, or is it the place that you work that makes you feel that way? I understand how you feel, my job is extremely stressful and even on days that I don't work, I worry and stress about how the next day will go o...
  13. So I failed my NCLEX-PN at 205 questions

Don't get discouraged! My first time I failed it in 92 questions.. in other words, I failed so bad that the computer didn't even give me the chance to answer 200 questions because I had gotten too many wrong . I knew my material, but I'm an awful tes...
  14. Do you stop your medpass to "watch a pt"?

I agree, that would be frustrating.. my morning med pass takes about 3 hours, and if I get any interruptions (even if it's only for a few minutes), it can knock me way behind. I can't imagine having to stop what I'm doing to watch a resident. Do you ...
  15. fail Nclex PN 2nd time

Hi Nikki. Don't get discouraged.. I failed my first time.. made it to about 90 questions, so I failed pretty badly. I never understood the people who claimed that they barely studied and still passed because for me at least it took A LOT of studying...
