Oh I see. I still can't find it. I think you may have to delete the group and start over, without making it a McMaster group. It happened to me once and there was no way to change it without starting over.

A lot of my friends had good luck finding places in the Annex (north of Bloor, approximately between Bathurst and Avenue), Chinatown (South of College around Spadina. Good streets to look on are Darcy St., McCaul St., Beverly St., Baldwin). Also Harbord St (just West of campus) and its surrounding streets. If you don't mind a bit of a walk, the area around Trinity Bellwoods Park has some very reasonable priced apartments, and is a cool neighbourhood. I lived in the Annex and it's a fantastic neighbourhood and very close to campus. I think it's getting a bit pricier though. Generally immediately East of campus is going to be more expensive (on Bay, Yonge, Church), and has more high-rise condos and apartments. Farther east (Sherbourne St, Parliament St) gets cheaper, but as a female I wouldn't recommend that neighbourhood. Crime rates are a lot higher there, to me it's not worth the cheap rent to sacrifice safety. I think you should be able to find something reasonable in that price range. Keep in mind that the Toronto rental market works a lot differently than other cities- most properties won't be listed until 2-3 months before they are available (So if you're looking to take a place starting Sept. 1, start looking mid-June). I think PadMapper is a really good website to find available rentals. Also the U of T housing site. One last word of advice: scam apartments are a thing in Toronto- if the price looks to good to be true, the place is probably too good to be true as well. Be careful and make sure you meet the landlord at the prospective apartment in person. Also check bedbug reports before signing a lease by googling the address you're interested in.

Great to see all the Waterloo people! I'm coming from Waterloo myself. If anyone needs any advice regarding apartments, good areas to look, etc, feel free to ask- I did my undergrad at U of T.

I got into U of T today and I could not be happier! I 'm 100% accepting it.

No Mcmaster offers have gone out yet I don't think. I remember seeing that they would start making offers early-mid April, and offers would continue until June 30th. Both them and U of T like to keep everyone in suspense!

I called an undergraduate advisor in the nursing faculty at queen's and we talked about a few questions I had about the program. I'll copy and paste the notes I made here, in case it gives you any more insight into the AST program. Where are placements held? -Placements start in 2nd Semester, in long- term care/ retirement home setting. -Pediatric, Med-surg placements too throughout the program. -Community health placement, e.g. penitentiary (would need a car). -One big 40 hr/ week practicum in the final summer semester. Can go anywhere, many go outside of Kingston (e.g. to toronto) - Other placements held in Kingston and surrounding area. If outside of the Kingston bus system, they transport you by bus.-Car is an advantage for community placements. E.g. to do a penetentiary placement, you need a car. Placements in critical care areas? -No icu placements in the general repertoire, but can get in during your last practicum (40hrs x 10 weeks), providing grades are good. List it as an interest and they do their best to accomodate you. No placements 1st semester 3rd year!! Transfer Credits? (I've already taken stats and biochem). -Will be evaluated soon. Email undergrad admissions to initiate this. -If I got transfer credits for stats and biochem, could discuss the possibility of additional clinicals with Nursing faculty. Hasn't been done before but isn't ruling out the possibility. Sorry for how messy these notes are... I was typing fast while I was on the phone!

Does anyone know how we will hear from U of T if we are accepted (e.g. email, join u of t, mail)? I'm an internal applicant and I can't seem to activate my Join U of T account. I'm worried that I'm going to miss key information from them.

I was under the impression that U of T runs from September- June.

I have a 3.6 cGPA, and a 3.9 in my last 2 years. Not sure which one Queen's looked at. I also have completed my degree so I'm not sure if that played a role or not.

Just got an offer from Queen's. Leaning towards Queen's over Trent right now. Does anybody know anything about their program? I'm struggling to find information and I have to make a fast decision because I only have 2 weeks to accept Queen's. Do they have a tuition deposit? Thanks in advance :)

Oh wow, ok that's very informative. So I can tentatively accept on April 3rd, and not have to financially commit anything until June 2nd. That's great news. I do wonder though, will accepting an offer decrease the likelihood of other schools accepting me? Will they see that I've accepted Trent and not bother to send me an offer?

I like your chances of hearing from U of T before Trent needs an answer better than mine. I can't imagine I'll hear anything from U of T, Queen's or Mac before April 3rd. I'm considering writing an email asking them to consider extending my deadline to accept by so I can weigh all my options... I don't expect it'll work though.

I just looked it up. It looks like Trent requires a $500 deposit (non-refundable) for full-time students, that must be paid within 3 days of accepting the offer. My deadline to accept is April 3rd, and I really want to hold out for U of T. I don't know if I can justify putting that much money down on a school that isn't one of my top choices...

@jlouro, how did you find out that Mac denied you already? I didn't realize they sent out rejections before they even accepted everyone...

Just a heads up to everyone, it's my understanding that Nipissing cancelled their program for Fall 2013 entry last minute. They had a class all lined up ready to attend, and then cancelled it in August. It left a whole class of students, including one of my friends stranded and frantically trying to find other schools to attend. I applied to Nipissing as a complete backup but it scares me that it's so new and potentially unstable. I tried to get information from the program coordinator, who confirmed it happened but didn't give reasons. Now that I at least know I'm into Trent, I've decided not to complete my supplementary application for Nipissing.

I have a question... It seems like a few people are in the position of possibly accepting a 2nd choice offer to secure it while they hold out for their first choice. I've been accepted to Trent, but I'm desperate for U of T! If I accept Trent ( I need to do it before April 3rd, likely before I'll hear from U of T), will U of T see that I accepted them? Will that impact the likelihood of U of T offering me admission? Also, does anybody know if you have to put a deposit down when you accept on OUAC? Thanks in advance!

I'm late to the discussion but I've applied to U of T, Western, Queen's, Trent, McMaster and UBC. I just got accepted to Trent today :) I think Toronto is my first choice, but I'm relieved to know that I'm going somewhere! I finished my undergrad degree at U of T in April of 2014. have a 3.6 cGPA, 3.9 in my last 2 years. I have volunteer experience working in the day surgery unit, research experience from my undergraduate degree, and lots of athletic-related extracurricular and leadership involvement.
