our docs recommend dark kayro syrup in each bottle. but...i do think this child needs a better workup and referral to a peds GI ASAP! If you dont get anything out of your primary pedi..move on and get in with a specialist.
In our ER, we push both of them each over 3-5 min. Most of the docs do 50mg/kg/dose, so the dosages are the same. Our policy for gent is 30 min and Vanc is 1 hr.
We do albuterol/atrovent, then albuterol x2, in the meanwhile they've already rec'd steroids. If they aren't much improved after the 3rd albuterol, some will try another albuterol and give a prolonged tx. If that doesn't work, they get Mag and cont t...
Well, working in a children's ER shields me from some of the stupid crap people ask, but we still get our share of crap because we also do OB/GYN. I am so tired of people calling asking "Should I bring my baby (8yrs) in??", I start off my answer with...
could be laryngomalacia. Get a referral to a pediatric ENT and have them scope your child. Our ENT will scope in the ER sometimes. He puts lidocaine in the nares and the babies don't seem to mind it.

My Peds clinical faculty was very competent. Did I get enough experience to think I wanted to be a Peds nurse at that time, NO. I didn't even get to attempt an IV or blood draw on a kiddo (truth be known, I was probably too scared to do anything but ...
We don't papoose. We have the parents stand at the head of the bed and hold the childs hands (and love on the kid) and another person holds the legs. It goes pretty well this way. Holding the legs in a lithotomy position works best for little girls. ...
Bill and Jennifer said almost exactly what I would've said. I am always one step ahead of the doctor. If I get a patient with a Lac that needs suturing, I assess the pt, go draw up the Lidocaine, get the Lac tray& some Neosporin. All the MD has ...
There should be a training program at one of the hospitals in town, since you only worked with a temp license for a max of 90 days..You should still be considered a new grad. Have you looked into anything at UAB? I believe they have several types of ...
