  2. I don't blame you one bit. I would suggest to lightly tread and offer up some candy to this grouchy orienting nurse. It's a precarious spot to be in, having a grouchy nothing-you-do-is-right...

    IV Gauge for CT

read your post back there....well that is interesting. Stinks for you guys having a old scanner! Not great if you don't have that option, though - say a left arm injury or no veins, etc etc blah...
  5. I agree with you. Administration/higher ups want to keep customers (patients) coming back and bringing in the money, so of course it's easier to slap a nurse/staff hands, even when they aren't wrong....
  6. indentured servant: a young, unskilled laborer how is an RN in any way defined as an indentured servant? You will be treated as you CHOOSE to be treated. When you want respect, you will get it....

How fast to push IV meds

refer to a drug guide.... you learn this in nursing school - instructors don't let you push any med (Or give PO meds) without stating what it's for, how fast to push it, side effects, dilution, etc....
  8. if no fever tomorrow, I'd go in. You'll wear a mask in the OR. Don't touch anything. If you have a fever tomorrow, I'd not do your OR clinical... tell them you have a fever. Obviously would impact...
  9. Hi guys, Just posted a thread in Camp nursing, but it was hard for me to even find the post, so I'll post here.... any ER nurses ever worked/or will work as a summer camp nurse, in addition to your FT...

    IV Gauge for CT

why would having an 18 or 20 in the left antecubital not be as good as the right??? perhaps that was a typo... but if not, I'm dying to read the rationale.... since we'd ALL be doing it wrong. Every...

    IV Gauge for CT

had a resident offer to start an EJ for CTA to r/o PE.... he's pretty on the ball and insisted it was OK to use for contrast, but I would hesitate to have had him start one for that purpose without...

    IV Gauge for CT

how about asking the tech. They know what they need... all Radiologists have different preferences, but as I just encountered this argument myself... I had only a #22 and it was INSANELY difficult to...
  17. thanks for your reply. My idea is to work "as needed" or give them one 24 hour period per week. I'm thinking every Tuesday, if my scheduling person would let me do that... we don't have a set...
