    New NP, embarrassing salary offer!

I said nothing of pure profit. You are exhausting. I was just sharing info that I read, and agreeing with the terrible offers out there. Good luck to you in your endeavors.

    New NP, embarrassing salary offer!

I pulled the numbers from a a Texas workforce report, and it's based on billables. That number is repeated from many agencies. I'm not off the mark at all. This is a great book, and offers up how you would get to a number of $347,000 of additional pr...

    New NP, embarrassing salary offer!

I was just offered 40 bucks/hr (I made more as an RN), no benefits, no nada. They want to work-horse me to death. In trying to negotiate I was told that that was industry standard. Ha! Needless to say I'm not getting out of bed for that. This is inte...

    Overwhelmed & Recovery?

I agree. You either play the game, or you give up the license and career you worked so hard for. It's a lesson in humility among other things no doubt. I do not at all understand the letter. It's odd and violates all manner of privacy issues. You dec...

    Overwhelmed & Recovery?

That's just idiotic. There is no one way to do anything, and there is certainly no one right way for everyone. The 12 step thing fails a lot of people. You seem highly, highly intelligent, and I suspect that if you want sobriety, you will have to dec...

    Poetic.

    Doctors vs NP's?

Yes. Patients believe that there is a pill for everything. Are they wrong? No. There really is a pill for everything because it's big business. Huge profits for the drug industry, and the rest of it are little minions serving big pharma. I've been in...

    Overwhelmed & Recovery?

    Sorry, didn't realize that.

New Grad hired in the ER, question.

You will hear "seasoned" nurses say a lot of things. They want new nurses to live their personal hell. Nothing you do in a floor will make you a better ED nurse. Learn now..right now, to let everything you hear just roll right off our back. Work hard...

    dosage calculation

Have to agree. It seems irresponsible and lazy. Not exactly promoting success for the undergrad students.

    dosage calculation

I agree. The answer on the test did not include the ml. But, there is only one on-hand OTC formulation, and that is 100 mg/5ml. So, I was assuming reality and knowledge of pharm here.

    dosage calculation

The answer should be to give 80 mg/4ml (because I know it comes 100 mg/5 ml) q6. It's not a q4 med. The calculation comes out to 77 mg, but we give 80. I actually know some PAs who write take home pharmacy orders for things like 77 mg of ibu and then...

Want to do FNP online without GRE

UT Arlington has an online option for all of the NP programs, and does NOT require the GRE. We have many students from Houston in the program.

    Doctors vs NP's?

Low T treatment is not something generally done in general practice where I live. It's handled at hormone specialty clinics. If she didn't feel comfortable writing the script, then she did exactly what should be done, refer on. Even endocrinologists ...

    Overwhelmed & Recovery?

I live in Texas. Search the PA Bar Association. I have no idea where in PA you are, but it may not really matter. Everything can be done over the phone, and documents signed electronically or even snail mail as worst case these days. You absolutely h...

    Overwhelmed & Recovery?

Never fails, I find a sad typo hours later. It sounds....to me. Anyway, I'm rooting for you. Power to the people. Stick it to the man.

    Overwhelmed & Recovery?

After reading your post and other comments, it sound to me like you need an attorney who has dealt with the board before. Not sure where you live, but most bigger cities have plenty of lawyers who deal with medical and nursing boards all day long. Th...

    Why are they called, "Chucks?"

That's funny. You wrote "underpaid" instead of "underpad." I think it was your subconscious telling you to demand a raise.
  20. I'm not quite understanding the question. Are you an LPN now? If you are asking how to get a better job and make more money in nursing, then the answer is to become an RN. If there is a community college in your area, they may have an ADN/RN program....

    Older nurses

We are in surgery, preop, PACU, and the nursery. Come say hi...bring snacks! No seriously.

Advice for an FNP student please!

I'm an FNP student and having a tough time finding a preceptor. I realize this is far from a novel concept. It's the battle cry of all NP students. It's difficult to even communicate with NP's or other providers, as all questions about clinical expe...

The sloppy image of nurses today

That story made me really happy for some reason.

The sloppy image of nurses today

I know this is an old post, but after reading it, I laughed so hard thinking of how you must have been torn quite a new something or other after posting this. Honestly, I can't tell if this is real, or a flame bait posted by a net troll. If this is a...
  25. Just wanted to add, insurance carriers will not cover a practice that has LPN's or estheticians (or the combo) working beyond the scope of their licensure and education. So, if an MD is handing over botox and juvederm to the LPN, she/he can lose thei...
