Newbie in ER, feeling hopeless
I am feeling exactly the same way. I am a UK nurse recently moved to USA to a busy level 2 trauma centre, I had 2 week orientation on the floor. I am just starting my 2nd week on my own and I feel like I am drowning, I am fed up of coming home in tears. We have staff shortages to the point we don't get breaks. There are multiple vent hold patient's because there are no beds as well as all the other holds we have. The paragon charting system looks like a computer system from the last century!!!! Are all the ER's like this or have I just been placed I a really crappy one? I just feel isolated don't know who to go and speak to. I am trying to get a handle of the complete difference between the health care system and the one I have been working in for the last 20 years. I feel like my previous 20 years experience meant nothing and I feel like a new RN all over again. I am hoping that this feeling will not last forever

British nurse made it to the USA wow is it different!!!
I have recently made the journey from UK to USA I am about to start my second and final week of orientation on the ER floor. I have been working in ER for almost 20 years and in the same department, however after my first week I feel like I am drowning. The whole way of working is completely different and I am begining to doubt my decision. I know I shouldn't as it has only been 1 week, but I am worried that once I start being allocated my own patient's they are going to think I am too slow, I am asking too many questions etc. I would love to hear from any international nurses who may have found themselves in my position and whether is gets any easier. Thankyou in advance Meeky

EB3 MOVEMENT 2015---for those who want to pursue their US application.
I wouldn't go with any agency that charges a fee. I am with an American recruitment agency who have not charged me anything for processing and they have paid for all filing and application fees.

nursing in Las Vegas as a single Parent
Hi all, not sure if this is the right forum for this but I am sure it will be redirected by some kind moderator if it is not. I am a UK nurse and have been working in the ER since 1997 and have been offered an interview at Sunrise Hospital for their ER. I am a single mother and would be leaving the UK to work in the USA, I have heard of some horrendous stories regarding the crime and really bad education system all be it from a good few years ago. I am wondering is this still the case. What is the child care like for the older child as my son will be 13yrs and my biggest fear is that he will be drawn into this gang culture I have read about. Don't get me wrong I understand that there is crime everywhere even here in the UK. I would greatly value any feedback good or bad Many Thanks Sandra x
