  1. Canadian nurse preparing for NCLEX-RN

Hi all, I have been browsing through this forum for quite some time now and was looking for an updated information on how Canadian nurses prepared for the NCLEX-RN exam. To be eligible to sit for the exam, I must register for a specific state of BON...
  2. Canadian nurse preparing for NCLEX-RN

Thanks for contributing to this thread! I really appreciate your comments and helpful advice. Good luck to you this Tuesday, hopefullapass! I look forward to hearing your good news.
  3. Hi everyone, I am extremely new to 'allnurses' and would like to gain some insight as to which route I should pursue my nursing career. First off, I have 4 years medical/surgical experience as a LPN/LVN. I decided to transition to the BSN program a...
  4. Crne february 5, 2014 takers

Sorry to hear about your news. If your score was at the border mark, then go for it, but I would speak with someone at CRNBC first and see what they have to say.

I passed! Have a great weekend everyone!

I live close to the boundary of Vancouver and Burnaby area. We still have tomorrow and Monday, maybe they are saving the best for last.

You're not alone. I'm from BC and still have not received my result.

Mind you there were two venues in Vancouver, one was located in the Italian Cultural Centre and the other was at the South Hall Banquet by Marine Drive. I would say at least 60 registrants (Canadian educated nursing students plus IENs) per venue. D...

I wrote the exam in Vancouver. If we are lucky, some may receive their results as early as Friday and the rest will have to wait until the week of March 17th.
  10. Crne february 5, 2014 takers

Last Friday (March 7th), I dropped by CRNBC's office to provide legal documents of my married name. I was not hesitant to ask the status of our CRNE results, and the answer they game me was "expect to receive it in the mail during the week of March ...

    Job well done! Congratulations!!
  13. I'm sure that there might be a similar thread in this forum, so I apologize in advance for the re-post. There seems to be a lack of employment opportunity for new grad RNs in the Vancouver, BC area and I have thought about combining my passion for t...

March 17th is just around the corner. Wishing everyone the best of luck and I hope we all PASSED the CRNE!!
  15. LPN is NOT considered nursing experience?!

Hi all, I wanted to start a thread where I can hear from other LPNs, who transitioned to RNs, that are having difficulty finding employment. Just a little about me, I have been employed by the same health region for almost 9 years here in Vancouver...
  16. PT fell... Now I'm paralyzed with fear

When your instructor and preceptor provided you feedback that it was an unforeseen event, then trust that it was not your fault and you acted safely and efficiently to keep you and your patient safe. All I can say is that a post-conference and/or a ...
  17. LPN is NOT considered nursing experience?!

I was talking to one of my best friend, who works as a CML, and has worked with the TCU manager who interviewed me. The reasons the manager provided me did not make any sense to her either since this hospital deals with non life-threatening emergenc...
  18. LPN is NOT considered nursing experience?!

The only thing I'm not "allowed" to do on my floor is remove central lines...but my educator sent me for the CVAD class and said that RPNs can do them...but none of them on my floor will do it. To the OP...sorry that your experience isn't being vali...
  19. Crne february 5, 2014 takers

As others have mentioned, there should be a list of professional development plan on your profile. However, this list is only be available once you are a practising nurse with CRNBC, and there is no list on my account at the moment.
  20. LPN is NOT considered nursing experience?!

You are right about the brutal market here in BC. I have applied at different health authorities and I was lucky to land one interview during my job search. Unfortunately, this interview did not turn out the way I wanted it to be.
  21. LPN is NOT considered nursing experience?!

The manager mentioned that I do not have any experience being a charge nurse. As far as I know, LPNs are not able to be in charge in any medical or surgical floors. I did explain to the manager that my only experience of being a charge nurse was on...
  22. LPN is NOT considered nursing experience?!

It feels debilitating to have an "x" amount of LPN experience, only to be told that you lack in skills and nursing experience. Just in case they (HR/managers) have forgotten, LPNs are regulated health care professionals.

Hi, MJBK! I believe CRNBC's CCP is known as the Quality Assurance Profile (https://crnbc.ca/QA/RN/profile/Pages/Default.aspx). You sign in using your email address, as most registrants are able to access at this point, but how reliable is it to kno...
