Nclex-pn in california
both, I got one yesterday and got a letter from the board I passed over a month ago, so don't worry. They buy the names from the board and just send them out. Again it means nothing. Chet

quantitative stethoscope comparisons?
True, but I am on many other forums , crit care, trauma, PA and NP forums. I never hear anyone complain of losing their scope. It all seems to come from nurses. I have lost one scope, as a paramedic and know who took it. She took it when she left the company. Not an accident I am sure. Chet

quantitative stethoscope comparisons?
Depends on a few factors. What are you going to use it for? If you need to hear quiet murmurs then you should have a high end scope. If you are not working in an area that is that detailed a good, but lower end scope should work fine. The bottom line is to try them out first, and go with what you like and feel comfortable with. And addressing the matter of the "scope walking away". Does not say much for the honor of nurses now does it. Chet

Which stethoscope?
If you live in San Diego, go up to the Med School bookstore. I am sure u can try them there. Might not carry the ultrascope tho. Chet

what's in your pocket?
I worked at one hospital that had a bin at the department door to dump all the hospital's stuff in it as you left work, tape, swabs etc. I figured after awhile it did add up in saving the hospital money. Chet

Males as Nurses
Your MBA would be a major asset. I am redo my LVN, then into the first RN program I can get into. Off to work Chet
-
Males as Nurses
I was a LVN/LPN. I let my lic go, but took the NCLEX last week to redo it. I was a paramedic before that. Go for the RN, with your degree it would be easy to work into managment. Chet

Males as Nurses
I have never had anyone say anything or act different around me while nursing. Fact I believe I had advantages. I have had one or two female patients request a female nurse but that was rare, and understandable. I took no offense by it. Go for what YOU want to do. Chet

NCLEX torture

Is anyone taking NCLEX next week?
Well I took it and now the wait begins. Who knows Chet
-
Took the NCLEX-PN today and Im not sure if I passed
I took mine today too, and feel the same way. I took the paper one too years ago (passed it just fine), and felt different about this one. Who knows how I did. Sure did not seem like 85 questions, but it ended, but I was not watching the numbers. Being in CA I have to wait least a couple weeks, maybe more. Oh well. Least now I can have a few beers and relax. Good luck all, Chet

Where do you buy your scrubs?
Hi if you live in a big city try the local med school book store (or dental school). I have found good stuff at good prices. Might not be on display, might have to ask.

pda's
Nursing Students and PDA's This is what I recomend for student nurses. As you study a subject type what you find important as a text file then transfer that file to your PDA. Just the things you will need to know on the wards or jog your memory. You can also type your drug cards as text files and have them all on you PDA. You can also burn all the info to CD and/or a memory stick, or print it out. This give you YOUR book of perals and info YOU need. I use a Palm and make heading in the memo app then file my files under the appropriate heading. CVS, Resp, Labs, Drugs, etc. Good luck in your studies Chet
