  1. Yes, I think this is a good percentage range for Kaplan tests. Tht is how I did on the practice tests and I passed the NCLEX with 75 questions. I am not sure how the PN works, hopefully someone will reply that is more familiar with that test. ~Nurse Shannan
  2. Thanks for the welcome! I have an interview set up at Forrest General on the 5th and one at the State Mental Hospital in Purvis on the 6th.....I have always thought that psych nursing was interesting, but I am not completely positive about it yet. Do you know anything about the state hospital? Nurse Shannan
  3. You all ROCK!!!! ~Nurse Shannan
  4. hi, my friend is currently in a Kaplan review course and they told her that her percentage of 65% on a comprehensive Kaplan test is a good indicator of her passing the NCLEX exam. I wish I would've heard that before I took the test last Thursday. I passed, but I sure sweated it for a couple of days....nearly gave myself an ulcer!
  5. I studied using the Kaplan and Saunders disks....especially Saunders because you can design your own 100 question tests....mostly did all application/analysis type questions. But, now that I look back at it, the questions on the NCLEX are more like Kaplan....Saunders gets too detailed sometimes. I did 2800 questions altogether mixed between all subjects and after each 100 question test, I went over the rationales for the ones I got wrong and wrote myself hints. I did not study at home (too many distractions), I went to the library and plugged in my laptop or to a coffee shop where they let me plug it in. I did about 3 to 4 100 question tests a day and gave myself a break after each test/going over rationale. My average grades were like 73-78% and I was worried....I mean I made myself sick I was so worried....but being disciplined paid off. I wouldn't worry too much about studying strictly peds or OB....I know all of the tests are different for everyone, but mine was almost strictly med-surg...only two peds and two OB questions. I found myself really having to think through my pathopys because the answer I had always remembered and tied to the disease wasn't in the choices most of the time. Just have faith in yourself....you are smart and this is the last hurdle you will have to jump.....think of the 100's of obstacles you have already had to overcome in your journey through school! You can do it! let me know if you have any other questions!!!
  6. :) Hey....I was an A student in school too.....but I never could seem to break past 79% on those practice tests in Kaplan or Saunders....I took the test on Thursday, it shut off at 75 and just found out yesterday that I passed. I was really worried after the test because I felt like I guessed on a lot of the questions. The questions were unfamiliar to me and hard...lots of prioritization and teaching.....but from the feedback I have gotten from others, the more harder level 4 type questions you get, the better you are doing and the faster the test shuts down. Have faith in yourself.....you have it all up in your brain already! You can do it!!!
  7. Hi, I currently live in Texas and graduated May 05, and found out that I passed the NCLEX yesterday ( WOOHOO!)....Now my husband and I are moving to Camp Shelby/Hattiesburg at the end of the month. (He is military) Anyway.....I have contacted both of the hospitals in Hattiesburg, sent my resume to the nurse recruiters at each, but I haven't heard anything....Do they actually hire new grads in Hattiesburg? I have worked here at the VA for over a year as a Student Nurse Technician, but I think that the VA is a long ways from Hattiesburg. Any info or insight that anyone might have would be appreciated! Thanks, and I'll see you all soon! Nurse Shannan
  8. Hi....I felt the same way after I took mine on Thursday....the computer shut off at 75....but I knew that I had missed the last two because I looked them up as soon as I got out to my car. I had all teaching, endocrine, and ER prioritization...no math or peds at all, and three pick all that apply. I felt like I guessed a lot and pretty much everything was a blur when I left....but Pearson-Vue said I passed this AM....so it is partytime tonight in Texas!!! I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!!!
  9. Hey Everyone, I took mine on Thursday and really thought that I didn't do very well....BUT.....at 9AM this morning I checked Pearson-Vue and I PASSED! Thank God that is over....Thank you all for your support and insight! To everyone getting ready to take the test....YOU CAN DO IT!!! BUT....One piece of advice....IT IS HARD...TAKE IT SERIOUSLY!!! WOOHOO!!!! :balloons: :biggringi "Nurse Shannan"
  10. Hey, I am so so happy for you....reading you letter has given me hope...my story is very similar....took mine this morning and I know that I missed the last two...and they were basic....then it just shut off at 75.....I am scared but I will just wait it out like you did! Thanks and Congrats!
  11. I just got home from taking mine today in Waco, TX....it shut off at 75.....I am not feeling super great...I know I missed the last one and that is totally freaking me out....it was almost all med-surg...no math...go figure!!! Well, time for a beer and a bubble bath....just gotta wait it out now.........
  12. Hey, I just took mine today...in Texas too!!! Mine shut off at 75....I know I got the last one wrong.....I didn't feel great when I left....nothing just jumped out at me....a lot of weird stuff. Anyway...I am 37 and this is my second career also.....I think WE ROCK!!! Thanks for the info regarding the BNE....anything to save a buck...and CONGRATS! :balloons:
  13. Hi, I am taking "The Big One" on Thursday and I am wondering about the percentages I am getting on my practice questions and how that will relate to me passing. On Saunders I am getting between 75-85% on the mixed question tests and I got a 78% on the Kaplan 180 question test in the book and a 70% on the one on the Kaplan CD.....am I ready? I am just not feeling it! :stone
