  1. Easter??

I work in a prison and Easter is not even considered a holiday
  2. The HARD Truth for most nurses

Even the highest most experienced RN is never above wiping a butt. Sorry. I am an RN who truly believes in never losing your skills as a CNA. It's all in the job description. If wiping poo bothers you, are you sure you wanna be a nurse?
  3. To tell or not to tell!

Welcome to nursing! There will always be nurses who break the rules, cut corners, etc. Just do it the RIGHT way yourself and pick your battles. If these nurses are as bad as you say, they are digging themselves a hole and will soon cave in.
  4. Please advise me...workplace bullying and gossiping

I agree with one of the above posters, an RN should be professional and not act that way! I'd approach her like the previous poster said and talk out her issues. Trust me, you'll get some points for having the guts to be mature about it. I hope you c...
  5. As an RN who loves her LPN's I find this offensive. basically saying, "oh you're too dumb to pass the NCLEX RN..just be an LPN!" My LPN's know their stuff! C'mon! Ya kidding me?
  6. Prison Nursing- what does it involve?

Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. I love being a correctional nurse. This population fascinates me. I am never ever bored in my job. Sure it can be hard, especially when they act up, make vulgar comments etc. But you gotta have st...
  7. Can I lose my license???

We've all made mistakes, some cringe worthy..yes. Learn from this. Not sure what you're outcome will be but I am sure you meant no harm at all. Btw. I would change your profile pic to remain more anonymous. Your little one is very cute but a coworker...
  8. Nurses smoking e cigs at the station?

HAHAHA! I can just picture this...no WAY!
  9. How many different nursing positions have you had?

I've been in Pediatrics and now I am in Corrections. I plan on retiring in Corrections.
  10. What can I (we) do? RANT

I agree! I knew hospital/bedisde was not for me. I feel much more like a nurse in the non-hospital setting.
  11. Atheist at Catholic hospital

I did my med-surg clinicals in a Catholic hospital (I am Catholic btw) and besides the crucifix over every patient door, religious pictures and statues in the lobby, and the chapel with the Virgin Mary, I did not feel a religious tone or religions be...
  12. Why can't hospitals do better?

Sadly, I feel that healthcare has become a business as opposed to caring for the needs of the sick.
  13. HOW I PASSED NCLEX

    Cheers!
  14. ATI

I did ATI and I did not think it was similar to NCLEX-RN. I can't speak for PN. I felt the NCLEX-RN was most similar to Kaplan questions.
  15. asking a patient if they smoke

I ask at 13. This is what I was told to do when I worked in the clinic.
  16. Need advice...retaliation?

Oh my gosh. That would not fly where I am at. Sleeping on the job?! Wowza
  17. Electronic cigarettes (E-cigs)

I'm not sure what all is in them but they do not taste the same or give that same feeling. I prefer the real thing.
  18. Hospital vs dr office nursing as a new grad..

I started out in a Peds clinic when I first graduated. I didn't feel like a nurse, I felt more like a secretary or an MA. I feel much more like a nurse at my new job and I am much happier. Clinic hours are the best, but they pay usually isn't that gr...
  19. New Graduate RN,BSN NO JOBS 10/15/14

It took me 2 months to land a job as an RN with my BSN. Times are tough. Take anything you can get! I did not get my dream job right off the bat but I got some experience in my first job and now have my dream job! :) Good luck!
  20. What is the proper way to address an RN?

In the prison, the inmates call me by my first name or "Ma'am." The doc is called "Doc."
  21. Worried about charges, Kentucky

Talk to your nursing director or call your state board of nursing.
  22. New grad over 1 year and a few months

Any job is better than what you are doing! Honestly, working in LTC would have looked a lot better on your part than not working. LTC, office, etc is not a death sentence. Heck, I stared out in a clinic and now have my dream job.
  23. Resigning and the Incessant "Why?"

It's none of your managers business honestly. But just keep it brief or make some polite excuse. Just leave on a good note. Never burn a bridge.
  24. New grad in doctors office, making lots of mistakes

My gosh of course you'll make mistakes. Experienced nurses make mistakes. Quit worrying and just learn and ENJOY!
  25. I HATE bedside nursing

I too, dislike bedside nursing. Hence, why I am a correctional nurse :)
