a question for philippine nursing graduates
Grade in nursing school is not a definite criteria for anybody aspiring to work in the US. You only have to work towards securing the license (passing the exams) and be sponsored by an employer. when things run smoothly TADA! You are now a Registered Nurse in the US. I know it is much easier said than done. From my POV there would be certain agencies who recruits nurses with a criteria as such of a good scholastic grade point average that is mainly because it serves then as a basis of how well a nurse will perform with the examinations in securing the US license. Of course there is a much better chance for them to get the nurses who will be able to pass the exams in as little time possible and have the nurses here in the US.

my first medication error, what is the proper consequence?
RELAX, an incidental report is just a narrative account to what transpire on such incident you do not need to provide long explanation. And most of the time IR are just a compilation record of events which does not bear threat to a nurse. The important thing is for you to be always alert and be knowledgeable of what you are doing. Never be ashamed or afraid to ask questions to senior nurses when in doubt seek clarification no matter what the other nurses think of it as being silly or being stupid, always have a handy nursing book reference, this i would advice. If you haven't done a procedure before seek assistance with your head nurse, be honest with the lack of skills and info about a certain case. Keep educating yourself.

Sponsored and misreable
i am also a foreign graduate nurse who just moved here in the states and was placed in the Emergency room department to tell you i am going through the same experience as yours, different preceptors everyday in my orientation and it was only 3 weeks of orientation for me it was hard, and until now i still have my bad days though people that i work with right now look at me in a different perspective than before. you are still in the adjustment period like me though on your part early adjustment period. The one thing that i keep on telling myself that this too shall pass, and it sure will. one more tip work on your pace since you are new you are expected to ask a lot of questions and slow at work just always make sure that you are doing the right thing. right now the people that i work with are much more friendlier and helpful than they are to me before.

"adevia" agency
i did the ncsbn learningext study for nclex took it 2 weeks before the exam, fortunately i passed. i also run through the nclex review book kaplan, not much help to me. i think in choosing a review material for nclex you take consideration of your finances and how much critical thinking, prioritizing, and analyzing you can develop in the review. well personal dedication and focusing takes 40% in passing the exam. good luck to those who are about to take it!!!

Bad Contracts with Bad Agencies
i think the important thing rigth now is for the embassy to know about this situation. and be able to find help for us who are going through this situation. Let there be light!

Bad Contracts with Bad Agencies
i am hoping and praying to God that our hurdles with these agencies be over. I know that my difficulties are not as much as others because i am single and i do not have a family here. the main thing to do right now for me is to tell our filipino nurses back home to look into the specifics of the contract and make sure that there is a hospital sponsoring for a full time job not just a contracted employee. this needs to address to the US embassy counter checking for permanent nursing position in a hospital is a more secured situation.

Thank God for Angels, there are still hope for foreign nurses.

I was just wondering why the Us embassy in the philippines have been delaying issuance of visa when you have already all the necessary documents. Anyone here knows how can i contact the US embassy to make follow up, I have called up the operator assisted lines and the only thing that they provide is the update they will say you just have to wait. Its been almost two months for me now and I still have no visa.

NVC - CP Tracker, Manila Embassy
Yes VSC a copy of your should be forwarded together with the DS230. RIght now it is very important to have the VSC because it is one of the ways on how the NVC and Consulates determine if you are under SCHedULE A.

NVC - CP Tracker, Manila Embassy
My agency informed me that the Visa Screen copy was sent together with the DS230 form forwarded last year October. I have someone with the same status in the agency and she was informed by the operator to go through PE and then have the interview, she hasn't received the letter either. The operator I have talked with in the US embassy call service center told me to wait for another week to receive the letter mailed last June 13, she is not sure if i am to take PE first before the interview. So I will wait for another week to have the letter at hand and follow the instructions written there. The only thing for me now is to wait for another two weeks to really confirm what to do.

BEST news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
Is this really true? that the NVC now requires the submission of Visa Screen certificate when you submit the DS230 form? Since the backlog the NVC is having a hard time determining schedule A cases so they can only trace with the Visa SCreen certificate as proof? If this is so then those of us who are affected by the backlog will surely look toward to a much more dreadful wait. And those cases who just recently been submitted will be smoothly processed because they have complete requirements and so "documentarily qualified". Oh dear.... now we really have to wait until the NVC look into our papers and see we dont have VS certificate submitted and us to be notified and of course delay delay.......What can we do about this?

BEST news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
My I 140 petition got approved last August 2004 and I sent my DS 230 last OCtober 2004. The NVC completed processing my case last January 2005 and I am now currently waiting for the Visa to be current for the Packet IV to arrive coming from the US embassy. There must have been a huge delay on paper since you only received your DS230 just this may.

BEST news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
I'm one of those individuals who have all the requirements ready but still here in the Philippines . My PD is February 2004. Got approval from USCIS June 2004, packet three on Oct. 2004, NVC completed processing my papers Jan. 2005. I'm still here due to retrogression. Very frustrating.... indeed.

Worst news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
thanks suzanne I hope that no nurse would be into those kind of situation because it will be such a great mistake for them to go through. I think education is really the best way to inform nurses regarding the issues involve in moving from one country to the other. Best of luck on your endeavor towards helping foreign nurses.

Worst news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
I know that the nursing shortage has been going on for many years in the United States. Nursing profession is not a very glamorous job it takes a lot of hard work and patience. I myself is taking years before i can even make it out there, I am a nurse here in the Philippines already on my last stage of immigration process when the retrogression set in. i have every requirement ready and i'm still here so my patience is really being challenge here. I guess a lot of us nurses here in the Philippines and the rest of the countries stricken by the retrogression is getting impatient simply because of the job situation in our country, who wouldn't dream of making it out there when you're only earning as low as $120 in a month. Please dont get me wrong that we would grab any opportunity even the lowest salary offered in the US would be fine, that the migration of nurses from third world countries cause such setback on nursing situation in the US, that's what I've been reading on previous posts here. We are just individuals trying to live and attain a level of security in life just like the rest of the nurses in the US. Being able to pass all the hurdles from securing a license and settling in to live there is not just a walk in the park. But of course once we are settled there we are sure that we will work so hard in uplifting the profession that gives us the means to live.

Worst news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
I am just wondering about the allocation of the 50,000 visas which will be shared by the 3 countries under retrogression. In the 50,000 visas the rest of the family members as direct relative of the applicants will also be receiving the visa so that means it will be short lived. I'm thinking the applicants who will greatly benefit from the bill will most likely be the ones who are already in their last stages of immigration process, the ones who are for interview (Packet IV) . I am thinking that retrogression will still come by next year or any near future after the 50,000 visas being provided has been consumed. So the passing of the bill is just a bandage, a temporary solution to the nursing shortage in the United States. This is just a thought.

Worst news for RNs from India, Philippines and China
thanks for your hopeful words. Its been a while and my papers have been proceesed by the NVC last jan 14 2005 they said i have to wait 8 weeks well it might be 2 or three years because of the retrogression. I have recently passed the NCLEX RN exam took in Saipan last Jan. 27. I hope that everything will turn out good for the nurses.

Effect of EB3 cutoff date on application already in the NVC
We are on the same situation my papers are also at the NVC and was pocessed last Jan.14 2005 i called them up and say i have to wait for 8 weeks. I don't think its going to be 8 weeks it might turn out to be 2 or 3 years. Not unless the retrogression for nurses will be lifted in any near future. Let just keep our fingers cross. Very frustrating because i've been waiting for three years and work my way to finishing all the exams.
