I had all Cs in my science classes from like 10 years ago. Did ok when I went back for my BSN. I graduated with a 3.5 gpa but my overall gpa was closer to a 3.2 or so because of the Cs. I'm starting a DNAP program next summer. My gpa wasn't great but...
Hello all, crna hopeful here. I failed to gain admission to anesthesia school this past cycle and I am looking for ways to improve my application for the coming cycle. I know anesthesia is for me. There is nothing else I can see myself doing. I've re...
Thank you both. I will definitely look into graduate level science courses. I have been looking into UNE's online science prereq courses, specifically biochemistry because I find it so interesting.
Metabolic acidosis can be caused by some of the drugs given for asthma. Albuterol is a one. Especially when combined with steroids. Something to do with a hyperadrenergic state and pyruvate production.
I am in the process of researching schools. It's one thing to look up a school on a website to see what they have to offer but I'd love to hear from actual students on what your program is like and why you chose it/if you are happy with it. Especiall...

I don't know where you are located but in my state CNAs must be at least 18. I agree with what everyone else has said, enroll in a community college and knock out as many prereqs as possible. At least get some good basic classes under you belt ...
Thank you! That's great advice. As far as anesthesia models go, are there CRNA only clinicals in all states? Or should I look for schools in opt out states? I'm a little fuzzy on the whole "opt-out" concept.
Run. Those are ICU patients for a reason. Ultimately it's your license on the line and it'll be you that takes the fall of something bad was to happen despite the unsafe staffing ratios.

Good luck in LPN school. CMICU RN here. The ICU is a fantastic place to be if you like to learn. RNs in our unit also respond to Code Blue house-wide, which makes it a good place to be if you are into the adrenaline rush. Many of our nurses go on to ...
I was a single mother in nursing school. It required sacrifices, but I can honestly say it was worth it. Now my daughter and I live a comfortable life and I have a career that I love. Was it easy as a single parent? Nope. Would I do it again? Absolut...

Not in my 40s but I worked with a nurse aide in her 40s who was in a BSN program. She was an amazing aide and now she is an amazing nurse. Age makes no difference. Good luck to you!
Ems starts must be changed within 24 hrs at my facility, lines must be assessed for patency and blood return q12 and changed if they look bad. >20 for contrast and forearm or above, AC preferred. Most of my patients have centrals in the unit. Then...
The program I have already applied to in several hours away. I would be able to make it home every other weekend if I am lucky. There is a program that is closer that I am looking at as well. A few hours drive, however it is much more competitive. I ...
Hello all, another CRNA hopeful here. I have been eyeing a few programs and applied to one (early application deadline). Can't wait to get into anesthesia and further my education, however I am very concerned about the toll being in school will take ...
Thanks so much for the reply. It's nice to know I'm not alone! This is something I desperately want to do but a part of me feels guilty for even considering being away from her more than I already am. She is 5 right now. Will be 6 when I start classe...
thanks for the article! a lot of really great info in there. I thought the part explaining cold diuresis being a result of an increase in venous return and atrial natriuretic peptide was very interesting.
