  1. Please Help

Please help. I need your advice. During clinicals, a confused patient got angry and hit me. I told the nurse and my professor that the patient got mad at me. I didn't tell them that I was hit because I was shocked and felt bad that the patient hated ...
  2. Please Help

do you think the prof will fail me? or I will face negative consequences? The prof hasn't responded to my email. is she investigating what happened?
  3. Please Help

Thank you for the info that nurses' names are not under HIPPA. I will research that more. I did not write the patient's name or initials. Next time, I will not write an email and will report it immediately. I am worried that the prof will somehow rep...
  4. In my cohort, a student offerred money to switch clinical sites. This is not ethical. Should I report it to our program director? I don't want to be identified though. Any ideas on how to do this anonymously? Thoughts in general? Has this occurred in...
  5. Offering money to switch clinical sites? Ethical?

What about a student I saw who took out his cell phone and took pictures of the exam? Seriously, cheating is so rampant. It's disgusting. No, I would not be caught because this particular student sent a mass email to every single person in our class....
  6. Supplies

on the floors, it's hard to find one so many RNs have one of their own. have you started clinicals yet? if not, you would not understand.
  7. Supplies

Laptop, multi-colored highlighters, medical/bandage scissors, 4 color ink in 1 pen, pulse oximeter, notebooks. You don't need much. Maybe med deck or drug cards but if you make your own, u will learn drugs faster.
  8. Are there any RNs out there who feel weak and/or tire easily? I'm short and petite, get headaches easily if I miss a meal. I am pretty strong though... just lack endurance. I'm in nursing school right now.. just wondering if any nurses out there have...
  9. Any nurses who tire easily, feel generally weaker than avg?

I can only hope I have awesome coworkers.... The people you work with and your boss make or break the job! Seriously.....
  10. Any nurses who tire easily, feel generally weaker than avg?

Thanks for your input. I'm not really looking for a diagnosis or medical input. I wanted to hear more from other nurses and how they deal with fatigue. Did you have to switch from 12s to 8s like another poster? Did you switch out of a very physically...
  11. Any nurses who tire easily, feel generally weaker than avg?

I'm thinking that I'll do the night shift 12 hours first, but if that really is affecting my life negatively and I'm depressed and tired all the time, I'll try to find 10s or 8 hrs somewhere... Hopefully, I'll get a job after graduating no matter wha...
  12. Any nurses who tire easily, feel generally weaker than avg?

... When did I post that I have low test levels for testosterone?
  13. Any nurses who tire easily, feel generally weaker than avg?

I did. But yes, your comment reminds me to not share personal health issues online. I was just wondering how people who tend to get tired easily deal with such a physical job as nursing. Do you just sleep a lot during off-work days? I guess I'll see ...
  14. Any nurses who tire easily, feel generally weaker than avg?

That's what I'm wondering about... Will I have energy for outside of work? I'm glad you were able to minimize your headaches! What a relief. I don't get them often, maybe once or twice a month around menses or just if I haven't eaten. My thyroid leve...
  15. Is it too late to become a nurse?

No, you're absolutely not too old to go back to school. It's optimal to do so when you're single, no kids, no morgage, etc. But it's going to be a long process. Research the local programs. Volunteer. Fulfill the pre-reqs. Apply. Try to save a lot of...
  16. I feel like a loner sometimes.

Oh my gosh, I totally feel like you. You are not alone. I wrote a post called "When I graduate I'll be 30" in the "Breakroom" section of this forum (It's all the way to the top right of the menu) under "Family". I believe that human beings were creat...
  17. Oh my, I actually giggled reading this... I think this is the first time I've cracked a smile in a week (I've been feeling sad these days).
  18. Nursing Shoes

To anyone who bought the Timberland Pro Renova Professional - Do you feel like they are a half-size too small? I wear a size 5 and see that their smallest size is 5.5, so I ordered that... but not sure if it will fit. I hope they do!!! Any feedback o...
  19. How is your sleep?

Haha, the comics always make me laugh... :) I agree, sleep is incredibly important!! Try to get at least 7-8 hours a night. Trying to study when you're tired is so frustrating and counterproductive.
  20. NCLEX Tips - One I Never Knew

Hmm interesting tip. Thanks! I used earplugs (Hearos brand) for the first time on the plane and wow, they made a huge difference.
  21. Has anyone owned both of these stethoscopes? Which one would you recommend? Thanks!
  22. Welch Allyn Harvey Elite vs. Littmann Classic II S.E.

@green34 Thank you for your advice! I will surely get the chest piece engraved. :) I am falling in love with my stethoscope with every use! Haha... :) @kz020 Yes! I followed your advice and realized that the placement of the chestpiece over the brach...
  23. Welch Allyn Harvey Elite vs. Littmann Classic II S.E.

Has anyone experienced this too? I find it easier to take bp measurements using the Littmann than the Harvey Elite. Is it just me?
  24. Welch Allyn Harvey Elite vs. Littmann Classic II S.E.

Hi! So the Harvey Elite arrived yesterday and I can say that the sound is much more clear than the Littmann Classic II S.E. - The eartips are a little more painful though at first and I have to gently pull the eartubes apart to reduce the tension. Ye...
  25. Welch Allyn Harvey Elite vs. Littmann Classic II S.E.

I'm not sure if a free accessories kit comes with it - I do get the peds kit for free. The CD sounds useful! I also found this webpage for heart sounds, provided by WA. LOL about the tubing! Glad it got fixed quickly.. Is that why you got the Littman...
