At my ltc facility we can send home a 3 day supply with a dr's order. If they discharge to another facility then we can send all of the meds with them.

I had outpatient surgery a few years ago and developed a temp of 104. I paged the surgeon like my post op instructions said to and he instructed me to do IS. It did decrease my temp. down to 100. So I guess I would say it did work for me. I didn't take any tylenol since I was taking pain meds from the surgery.

my husband is also a police officer. we have been married for 8 years and he has only been a police officer for the last 2 1/2. there are only a couple of other guys that he works with that are married to people in medical field. most of the wives of his fellow officers stay at home with the kids.

I have seen this order recently. One of our docs at the facility I work at has been giving that dosage for renal patients. Does this guy have some sort of renal diagnosis?

we use a silent knight. it takes plastic pouches you put the pills in. not too loud or messy. if you google silent knight pill crusher you can see it.

i was up feeding my son who was born 3 weeks earlier and had the tv on to keep myself awake while he ate. i will never forget what i saw on tv that day.

at the ltc facility where i work we also recently had a resident we all were very close to pass away. it helped me a lot to go to the funeral home to pay my last respects. a fellow nurse i work with was crying at the desk, and a family member of another res saw her crying and asked what was wrong. when she told him we had just lost a close resident he said it made him that much more confident to have his mother be taken care of by her since he knew she became "family" with the people she takes care of. i should mention the family member was of a new resident that was just admitted.

i had the same problem for the entire duration of my first pregnancy. my son was 3 months old when i had surgery. the thing that helped me was eating bland food and strangely enough those infant gas drops when i had an attack. i feel for your sister. good luck to her.

my daughter didn't put anything in her nose, but when she was 11 months old she swallowed a penny that required endoscopy to remove. since then she has swallowed another penny and a pair of earrings. she just turned 4 a couple of weeks ago, so i'm hoping she is done with the swallowing of foreign objects.:chuckle

Having children myself I would have to say you arean angel. Any amount of time you have to spend with your child is wonderful, and to think you gave these parents more time than what they might have had. You deserve a pat on the back. At least now the parents know they have a sick child. It would have been horrible if that baby died and they were left to wonder what was wrong. You did a good job!

I agree. It does depend on what you have in your system. I am not saying that I agree with tasing or disagree. I think it is much better than the alternative, a gun, though. I agree we should wait for the investigation before we jump to conclusions. We weren't there!!

...and finally, for those of you who insist that Tasering is a kinder, gentler mode of restraint, there's this very disturbing video: http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/content/news/video/taser_video3a.html I have personally seen someone being tased. Once you are tased you pretty much can't do anything but go to the ground. The guy i saw tased was 5'8" and weighs probably 120 lbs. He went straight to the ground and didn't get up until the taser stopped. The taser only fires for 10 sec each time the trigger is pulled and the trigger can only be pulled 3 times before you have to change the cartridge.

As the wife of a police officer I couldn't agree with you more. You said everything I was thinking. I am proud of my husband and know everything he does on the job is so he can come home safely to our children. We do need to reapect other professions!

i wear nike shox. since i got them i don't ever come home with my feet hurting. they are pricey, but worth the money.

any time we get an antibiotic order we also get an order for acidophilus qid for the duration of the antibiotic. it seems to help quite a bit. hope this helps.

I am very sorry for your loss, but glad for you that you were able to be there. That gives you comfort in knowing he went peacefully. My thoughts and prayers are still with you and your dd.

I had a lady one time c/o not feeling well all day. She said she needed to poo. i gave her MOM, and that didn't work. So I did an impaction check. Imagine my surprise to find nothing but whole peanuts. There was very little poo actually. I gave her a SSE and she was able to pass them. I told her not to eat peanuts anymore because she didn't know when to stop.

This is what i do. I work on my dh days off, he works 6 days on and 3 days off, and every other weekend, and probably will continue to do this until my kids are in school. Good luck in finding something.
