FWIW, I talked to a WGU recruiter earlier this week and was specifically told I must be full or part-time to be considered for the program. I even have to provide proof of employment.

LPN pay is low. Jobs are scarce, and the jobs which are available are mostly in nursing homes. It's not worth it for many people. Not every one has the same personal or career goals as you do.

Your experience won't raise your pay. ICU and ER pay the same as every other specialty, so that won't help you either. If you can get hired into float pool that pays a small amount more. Salaries vary quite a bit by location, so I'm going to need to ...

Is the job you have lined up for an LPN or RN position? If I were you, I would do the LPN degree and then bridge to BSN or MSN. A $42,000 loan on an RNs salary is going to be a significant financial burden. At least it would be for me and my family....
