  1. Fastest RN-BSN programs?

I will soon be moving to an area where the nursing market is much more competitive than where I live now. Honestly I have no interest in getting a BSN, but am considering it to make myself more competitive in my upcoming job search. That being said, ...
  2. WGU won't accept per diem nurses

FWIW, I talked to a WGU recruiter earlier this week and was specifically told I must be full or part-time to be considered for the program. I even have to provide proof of employment.
  3. Something not right

LPN pay is low. Jobs are scarce, and the jobs which are available are mostly in nursing homes. It's not worth it for many people. Not every one has the same personal or career goals as you do.
  4. New Grad Pay In Oklahoma

Your experience won't raise your pay. ICU and ER pay the same as every other specialty, so that won't help you either. If you can get hired into float pool that pays a small amount more. Salaries vary quite a bit by location, so I'm going to need to ...
  5. Fastest RN-BSN programs?

Featherz, what was the readiness assessment like? Is it a way to test out of certain classes or just to see if you can handle college coursework?
  6. Fastest RN-BSN programs?

This is sounding like it could be a very good fit for me. I signed up for more information, so I should be hearing from someone soon. Do you know when the semesters start? Is it the traditional January, June, and August?
  7. Fastest RN-BSN programs?

Thanks, featherz. I just skimmed WGU's website and it definitely looks like what I want. Do you know how long students have to complete the community health practicum? I have unlimited overtime at my job and usually work 48-60hr/wk. Fitting in 90 hou...
  8. Sorry state of Nursing ...

It's true. And one of the major reasons nurses are treated so poorly is because nursing is viewed as a woman's profession. See also: teachers.
  9. Washington Hospital Center

I'm sorry you hate your job so much. I've definitely been there before. I don't mean to pry, but would you mind telling me a little about why it's so bad?
  10. Washington Hospital Center

luvluv, Do you know if WHC hires ADNs with a year of experience? I know it's a ********* place to work, but a job's a job.
  11. Too much time on her hands? I think so.

I'm sorry jrs, but you seem to be very socially lacking. Also, you were given the name and physical description of a former co-worker and you really couldn't remember her? That's unsettling. How do you distinguish your patients?
  12. Nurses laid off - Thanks to Obamacare

I’m sure your situation would be a lot better if a Republican were president. You know, one of those Republicans who seeks to eliminate the very programs you live off of. Also, the repair you had done was cosmetic. There is no reason why you shoul...
  13. Oklahoma City New Grad Nurses

Only one hospital in Tulsa pays $22 an hour. The rest will be closer to $20. HR will lie and tell you they pay less because they have better benefits, but they don't.
  14. The dumbest things you've heard from a provider

Patient who couldn't swallow and had a hiatal hernia. No one could get an NG tube down. Patient had been NPO for 10 days only receiving NaCl IV. Family was (understandably) going crazy because the patient was withering away and dying before their eye...
  15. New Grad States & Relocating

Lol, it's true. I live in Oklahoma, and there is a major nursing shortage here. New grads can get a job in any specialty (NICU is the hardest, but still possible.) However, the hospitals in my area are not very open to hiring new grads from out of st...
  16. Three Weeks! It's almost over!

    Good luck and congrats!
  17. Sounds like all the nurses I know who complain about physician (or even pharmacist) salary.
  18. New Job or No New Job, help! TBHC

This was going to be my exact advice. If the market is really as tough in NY as allnurses would lead me to believe, I don't think you have much choice.
  19. Online RN-To-BSN accreditation

I am an ADN looking to obtain a BSN through an exclusively online program. I am under somewhat of a time crunch, and need to finish my degree by the end of the summer semester 2014. I have been accepted to two programs; however, neither is regionall...
  20. Help, my school won't allow me to take Nclex.

Is this competency test something that is required to graduate and you never took it? If you graduated a year ago, all of your info should have been sent to the BON at the time. This story isn't adding up for me.
  21. Have you looked into physician's assistant or direct entry nurse practitioner programs? That seems to be a better match for your educational level. You would get to do some patient care, although obviously not as much as an RN. Also, there was a wome...
  22. Where are all the RNs?

I'm not in Mass, I'm just curious. What are the requirements listed in the job postings? I will be moving next summer, so I've looking at postings in the area where I will be living because I like to be ridiculously prepared. Some of the requirements...
  23. Med Math...

Yikes. That doesn't reflect well on your school at all. That's really unsafe for your future patients. To the OP, each school does it differently. Some have combined dose/pharm, some separate the classes, and some integrate dose/calc into the theory...
  24. HELP!!!

Is the job you have lined up for an LPN or RN position? If I were you, I would do the LPN degree and then bridge to BSN or MSN. A $42,000 loan on an RNs salary is going to be a significant financial burden. At least it would be for me and my family....
  25. BON NCLEX results

They definitely do post new licenses on Saturdays. I don't know about Sundays. My cousin took the NCLEX Thursday and her number was posted about an hour ago.
