Do you run a primary with secondary??

It just depends. Sometimes doctors order total IV rate to be set at such and such #, so then no, I don't run them concurrently. Other times I do. Just depends on the patient. :)

    desperately needed someones help

Well it sounds as if money is the main issue here...Is there a certain reason you want to make at least $100,000 per year other than just "wanting it"? Travel nursing includes bonuses which I am sure...

    ways to educate yourself

I would suggest finding another job, if possible. Your pleas obviously aren't being answered and are not important to her. You need to find someone who will appreciate what you do.

    My skin keeps breaking out!!!!

Ha! That is one reason I am thankful I work midnights! Thank goodness that they don't particularly pay attention to the crisis occuring on my face because they are

    My skin keeps breaking out!!!!

I have seen ads for it and I thought maybe it was too good to be true as well. They have stuff at Wal-mart along the same lines called Acne Free--3 step program even--I wonder if it would work the...

    Doctors "firing" patients

Don't know if it is common, but it happens. Would you want a patient under your care that was not compliant? I sure wouldn't! The doctors where I work send a letter to the patient, informing them...

Why Are 12 hour shifts the standard?

Probably because in some places (like where I work) 12 hour nurses only get paid 36 hours, not 40. Also, if other people are like me, I am more willing to pick up overtime since I only work 3 nights...

    Newbie Question about "Blown Veins"

That's exactly what I was going to add! I am often more successful without a tourniquet on elderly people. :balloons:

    What would you think...

When I was 17 I had to have blood drawn for something...believe me, you crying is not a big deal. I was hysterical and crying and sobbing...people had to hold me down. The nurse was like, "Is she...

    It's a Hospital, Not a Hotel (Gripe)

:selfbonk: :selfbonk: At the small hospital where I work, our *wonderful* administration has posted signs everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The signs say something along the lines of "If you are...

    What would you do?

I would think this may not be such a great start for you. 4:1 ratios is horrible for ICU, let alone fresh post-op. And LPN's pusing cardiac meds? Um, no thank you. Not to offend anyone, but as far...

You know its going to be a bad shift when...

...day shift waits until 1800 to give a 98-year-old woman Go Lytely, and yes, she will be your patient! ...The code cart hasn't had time to be restocked before you hear "code blue"...again... ...4th...

What shift was your first job?

I was hired for a float shift, but worked mostly days. I gave that up for 7p-7a, 3 nights a week. Considered full time and love the shift. I work with great staff and wouldn't have it any other...

    Graduation Ceremony Woes

I can understand why you are upset. Just don't appear angry at the meeting, be calm and let her know why it is important for you and the other classmates. When I graduated, I had my parents pin me...

NCLEX was hard and I am sick!!

Just a piece of advice that probably won't really work... Just let it go until you get your results. You will worry yourself to death about it and there is nothing you can do to change it now! Try...

    Questions about death

I agree. NO ONE should suffer. People deserve to pass away pain free and with dignity. I just recently lost my grandfather to cutaneous T-Cell lymphoma and he had an agonizing death. I live 500...

    3rd shift people please help

Hi guys! I have worked 12 hour midnights for over a year and love it. I don't have children, but I think that if I did it would work wonderfully. I have also found that I need less sleep when I work...
