  1. Failed nclex 10 times should i try again???????

No. You don't get 10 tries with a patient. Anxiety can only be excused so much before it slips into a lack of or poor application of basic nursing knowledge required to pass the nclex. After 10 years, you probably need to start fresh with school anyh...
  2. Nursing Dose

I've heard that too! "Nursing dose" flies around my ED every shift. People may or may not actually be doing it, but the thought is always nice... Especially with screamers.
  3. I paid 200 dollars for pvt

I just can't. Why can't all things PVT just go away?!
  4. Screwed Over by My School

That sounds frustrating. I can only hope I'd have the patience to deal with that situation. BUT, in the grand scheme of things, how much does your transcript saying August vs May matter? Drop the negative energy being put into trying go make the scho...
  5. I'm upset and feel very disrespected.

I swear to Bob I loathe the word 'customer.'
  6. I won't be lengthy either. Exactly what about the faculty and staff made "ghetto" your word of choice to describe them?
  7. What I learned this week (6/27)...

I believe he made it up.
  8. What I learned this week (6/27)...

I learned, from a patient, that there is a viral shot you can be given to prevent HIV transmission within 48 hours of confirmed exposure. What I hope to learn by next week is: Why this shot isn't just given to all negative people as an HIV vaccine?...
  9. Seriously?!
  10. Taking the NCLEX in a different state

That's perfectly okay. You can test anywhere!
  11. I got reported to HR

What was wrong with asking if her name was a birth name or not (if that's what you meant)? What you said was rude. And if you can't see how it was and have chalked it up to someone being offended too easily, you absolutely should be worried.
  12. Test day ritual?

I always looked a mess on test day. No effort made to even look presentable. Lol. My hair was up in a ratty bun or just brushed down & unsecured and, no matter how hot it was outside, I always wore a comfy Aero jogging suit. So, when I took NCLE...
  13. Timeline for graduation, NCLEX, and 1st RN Job

4/6/15: Finished Practicum/Applied 5/8/15: Graduation 5/10/15: Submitted Application to GBON 5/15/15: Received ATT 5/18/15: Accepted ER Position 5/22/15: NCLEX-75 Questions, 1.5 hours. I studied for 2 days prior and the morning of, but I wouldn't rec...
  14. RN Comprehensive Predictor 2013

The questions are different and the final has 180 questions instead of 150.
  15. Livescan- nursing school (arrests vs. actual charges.

They typically will see the arrest and charge, as well as require you to submit a letter of explanation regarding the offense and certified court documents with the cases disposition. That is where it'll be clear that the arresting charge was reduced...

Small community hospital in metro Atlanta area: $22.50 base $3.00 evening diff (7-11) $4.00 night diff (11-7) $3.00 w/e diff New grad
  17. How many job interviews before you get your first nursing job?

Things lined up well for me. I was offered and accepted an ER position before graduation without an interview. I did precept on the unit during my last semester though.
  18. Every other weekend & holidays??

OP, graduate and pass NCLEX. Then worry about nursing positions that may serve your needs better.
  19. Feel like I'm barely passing

For me, reading and reviewing notes helped minimally. It was practicing questions that really made things sink in because it forced me to apply the information. If you have resources available, see if incorporating practice questions will help you.
  20. Stay AWAY DROM DLSI of Indiana

This was completely uncalled for. Your anger is displaced. YOU failed to fully educate YOURSELF and ensure YOU understood what was within the four corners of that contract in an effort to get a quicker/easier result of YOUR career goals. What does sh...
  21. Diploma nurses are worthless?!

She's addressing you saying you wouldn't want a nurse that only studied nursing for a year or two. BSN nurses study nursing for two years also, because there are only 2 years of nursing core courses. The first two years are gen ed prereqs. You're a...
  22. 265 questions

Thanks for clarifying. I thought that I may have mixed that up after I posted!
  23. 265 questions

If you took all 265, your pass or fail boils down to the last 60 graded questions. Every test taker has 15 sample questions that don't count towards their score. If you stayed above passing level towards the end, you're good to go! ETA: Orrrr wait, t...
  24. Cost of Nurse Residency Program

This is news to me, I've never heard of a residency quite like this one. It seems scammy to me and I agree that mass participation will set a bad precedent. BLS costs all of $50 and those other certs are either not real (glucometer, SERIOUSLY?) or ma...
  25. Any tricks on how to get abg correct

I learned ABGs best with ROME, respiratory opposite metabolic equal. pH up/CO2 down=respiratory issue, pH up/HCO3 up=metabolic issue and vice versa. Also, with compensation, pH off with 1 abnormal value=no compensation, pH off with 2 abnormal values=...
