DEL1VRD, I am scheduling TMO at this time. They told me that a minimum of one week noticed is needed if in the local base area. I live outside the base area, so it will take about 2 wks for scheduling pack and pick up. They will pack everything and you are to only pack what is going with you/family members. I only received my orders about 2 1/2 wks before I was scheduled to be at COT. My recruiter took me to get some of the uniforms. We did not get everything on the list due to somethings are seasonal or optional. He told me to get the rest at COT because they will let me know exactly what I will need.

I took my oath last week. Now just getting things ready for the move.

Freedomfocused, I am going in as a 1st LT and have 5 yrs experience as a BSN. I believe my recruiter said I was 1 yr shy of captain. I hope that helps.

Mattl You can work towards what you want to do if you let your superior officer know. I would like to go into a specialty field in the AF but at this time I am not qualified. When I had my CN interview, he told me that what I would need to do is let my superior officer know what my goals are. If they know what your goals are then they can put you into positions that can help you reach your goals.

Mattl I agree with jfratian. I applied fully qualified and still had to apply twice. It is better to get the process started as soon as possible. Talk to a Healthcare Recruiter. I didn't know the difference and when I first considered the AF, I got the wrong information due to talking to a non healthcare recruiter. I think going in as a single adult would be a little easier than going in with a family. I will miss my daughters birthday because I will be in COT. Being away from family for several weeks at a time will not be easy but another part of the challenge of the military. My aunt's sister retired from the military as a nurse. She really enjoyed military nursing. I know several people that served in the AF and they really enjoyed their experience. Good luck on you decision.

It looks like I will be joining all of you for COT and then off to Little Rock AFB. I hope the days go by quickly but that I will be ready in time.

Candi2188 The positive is you will be near the B2 spirits. The negative is the humidity. It is a good area that is close to farm land and an Amish community. Other than the humidity, it is a good place to live.

Yes that is not the list for this board. Last board some people didn't hear the same time as others. I don't know if it is necessarily based on select or non-select status. Remember that it was Friday afternoon when people started getting the calls. I got my call after 5pm. If your recruiter wasn't in the office, he may not know yet what your status is. Keep up your spirits. I know the wait is difficult. I was an alternate last board. When I first started this process over 14 months ago, I was told that it can take over a year to get in. The wait has been worth realizing my dream. Hoping you guys get good news.

Dreaming1007 I noticed too that you can not access the old COT website. I finally found the new website with the information but you have to register for the website. I haven't registered yet but it will not let me see the COT dates or list without registering. Here it is for the ones that need it. jfratian, My recruiter told me in March that I would probably have to reapply in Oct and there was no guarantee of getting in automatically. I am a med/surg alternate from Feb. I just spoke with him about a wk ago and they have called up some of the alternates from Feb 19th. He doesn't know where I am on list at this time.

jcbcrane So is that 38 FQ spots for Oct board or for the whole 2014 fiscal year

Because of the sequester, the slots have been cut for NTP as well as fully qualified. My recruiter explained in Jan when we submitted my app that the positions were almost cut in half for this fiscal year. The board that you are referring to was supposed to be in May and was canceled. I don't know the exact number but if you don't get in but get an alternate it is better than being told no. I currently am an alternate waiting to hear and my recruiter said that it is a good thing that I got that instead of a no. I would keep a positive mind set and prepare for the PAT. aliseel25 I think it depends on the CN that you interview with. During my CN interview, I was asked questions that are common in civilian interviews as well as questions regarding the air force motto and core values. He asked a lot of questions about why I wanted to join, if I had the support of my family and if I was dedicated on keeping the fitness requirements of the air force. I am not sure what interview packet that are you referring to. I never received any packet to prepare me for my CN interview. It was recommended to me to wear a suit, low heels and hair up if you are a female.

Julifers Here is the description of pediatric nurse for the airforce. To answer the question, yes they do hire pediatric nurses and if your certified it makes you more desirable. When I had my CN interview, it was explained to me that by a certain time you are expected to be certified in an area of nursing to qualify for promotion. mullinsm5, So you are applying for the NTP. I have heard that it is a little different than fully qualified which is what I applied for. I am not sure what you can do without getting the forms from a recruiter. I don't know if you can change recruiters or not. I would go ahead and talk with a Navy recruiter and see what your options are. They should be able to tell you if you can apply for both branches at the same time. The only thing that I would recommend before joining the Navy is to find out if you get sea sick. If you get sea sick, it might be a problem since you have a chance of being stationed on a ship. I am sorry that you are not having a positive experience. Most of what you need to do needs to come from the recruiter due to it needs to me on military forms. The packet is long and includes personal information, work history, some medical questions, driving history, criminal history, and personal references. They will also need work references but those need to be on a military form. I don't know if it is required to be done prior to MEPS or CN interview but my recruiter wanted it done prior. Are you working with a Healthcare Recruiter? Are you going in as a BSN or NP? The BSN process is different than the NP. The last I heard was that all boards for BSN were canceled till next fiscal year which is in Oct but that may have changed. I haven't spoken with my recruiter for a few weeks.

Obigdog26, the packet time depends on how fast you fill it out and then the recruiter processes it. There is also multiple steps in the packet/application process. I don't think that there is a set time frame as long is it is completed for boards. After your recruiter reviews your info they will let you know what options you have such as position and rank. The paperwork you sign will say what position and rank that you are applying for. Make sure to keep up the certifications that you have. I hope this info helps.
