    That's logical - makes perfect sense. I couldn't understand why Marcaine would work and then not work. This patient opted not to have the lumbar block because he didn't trust that it would work....

    I'm more of a cardiac guy and wasn't aware of the weight loss/gain issue until I googled it. It's hard to know which ones are good and which are bad... Thanks for the input.

    Both blocks had catheters, and apparently the patient initially had numbness for a few hours with the first block but nothing after that. With the second block, he had numbness again for a few hours...
