  1. I took the TEAS test yesterday after two extremely intense weeks of studying and I got a 90.7%. Hurray! I was super excited and I felt that my hard work had paid off, so I thought I would share a few tips and some general thoughts on the test and hop...
  2. University of San Francisco BSN 2013

Received my rejection letter--I wasn't surprised because even though my GPA is high, I'm not done with my volunteer work and it seems that everyone has either work or volunteer experience. I also was very apprehensive about the extremely high tuition...
  3. University of San Francisco BSN 2013

Congrats to everyone who got admitted! I'm in SoCal so I'm assuming (hoping with fingers crossed, really) that it's on the way. Didn't have anything today...we'll see tomorrow or Monday. I hate snail mail! Mperal10--I wasn't aware that we could/shoul...
  4. University of San Francisco BSN 2013

Thanks ladies, that makes me feel better. I've applied to a few schools in both San Fran and San Diego (where I currently live) because I'm not sure where ill be living next semester. My husband has applied to Berkeley and if he gets in we'll be movi...
  5. University of San Francisco BSN 2013

I applied as well, but I'm not hopeful because I realized that even though my professor said she sent my letter of recommendation in the beginning of January it is dated as received on Jan 22--a full week after the deadline. Hopefully one of my other...
  6. My two cents on the TEAS test (loooong post)

Yes, I guess my full explanations of what was on my test wasn't allowed--sorry! Rules understood now. As far as the questions regarding the test booklets--I think that the ATI is absolute necessary for you to know what will be on the test, don't get ...
  7. It's hard to say because you're not telling where you are getting your points from. SDSU? San Marcos? Grossmont? SWC? SD City? Each program has different point systems so 59 point out of a total of 75 and a total of 90 could be a drastic difference.
  8. I feel the way you do--I'm applying right now but I won't start nursing school until I'm at least 30 and possibly 31, if I don't get accepted with the first round because I'm not done with my last prereq or my volunteer work. That will put me at 33-3...
  9. My two cents on the TEAS test (loooong post)

No problem guys! I just wanted to pass along any and all info I could think of--I spent so much time stressing over the test and I hope that this can help others to focus their studying. Good luck!
  10. My two cents on the TEAS test (loooong post)

@hope1202 I used the Nursing School Entrance Exam McGraw book but I believe that the science section in any McGraw book , especially the TEAS specific books, will have the same information. A friend of mine has a different version and the science loo...
  11. Study Grp for TEAS in San Diego

I live in San Diego and I took the TEAS at SDSU yesterday and got a 90.7%. I read everything over about two weeks prior and then went really indepth about 1 week out. I did the practice tests in the book, looked up every single answer that I got wron...
  12. You'll do well--you said you have a great GPA and you know the information, it's not new to you. Plus you already took the test once so you know what to expect and you know how everything is set up. I felt that the study manual gave me all of the per...
  13. I'm having a bit of a freak out right now, haha, so hopefully you all can help. I am applying to USF and the last part of the application process for me is to send a letter of recommendation. My microbiology professor offered to write one for me at t...
  14. When turning in application packets for nursing programs, should we include the forms and applications that are requested inside a folder? It does not specify how to send the information and I wonder if sending inside of a folder is preferred. I've s...
  15. Refusing to dissect in A&P or Microbiology?

I thought I would have a problem with the cat dissection when I took Anatomy because I have my furbaby at home but I actually just jumped right in. Once you get over the initial "Oh my god, that's a cat" (especially because the one for my group had t...
  16. Applications are going out this fall, classes are getting into full swing, the pressure is on, and my confidence is low. I've been coming here to AN almost every day and reading threads about who got what scores and what schools accept which numbers-...
  17. Fall 2012 Microbiology Students -- STAND UP!

After getting a terrible 65% on the 1st quiz and then studying my butt off for the 2nd and getting a 90%, I was in pretty good shape for test today but I was soooo nervous about it..... ....but I got a 94%! There's always those 1 or 2 questions that ...
  18. Fall 2012 Microbiology Students -- STAND UP!

My first quiz I looked over my notes and read the chapter and walked away with a 65%. That was a kick in the butt so for the quiz I took today I buckled down and spent probably 15+ hours this weekend studying: reading/taking notes from book, rechecki...
  19. Who is applying for Fall 2013?

I'm applying to the same schools and from doing extensive research lately I've found that you must have all pre-reqs done for CSUEB, SDSU will let you have one in progress for the spring but you will not be allowed into the fall 2013 class, they will...
  20. Discouragement from others - Do I have what it takes?

I feel like I've encountered that too from people I tell that I'm applying to nursing schools. I get "That's really hard, you know. Like, a lot of science." Me: deadstare, and thinking "What do you think I've been doing for the last two years...potte...
  21. Fall 2012 Microbiology Students -- STAND UP!

I had my first lab quiz last week. It was a cinch, 10/10 and I was feeling good. But then I had my first lecture quiz today........ ....and I got a 65%!!! I can't believe it! I am so mad....I do not get grades like that! The good thing is that he dro...
  22. After spending the last year working on my transfer prerequisites at a community college for a degree in Nutrition I've decided change directions and pursue my BSN. I think all along I knew I would take this route but the time came for me to think ab...
  23. Thanks for the feedback ladies. The only pre-req's that I will have to do in the spring are Physio and Sociology but otherwise I will be all done. Luckily my Nutrition pre-req's were almost identical so this has/will be an easy transition in that sen...
  24. Fall 2012 Microbiology Students -- STAND UP!

I am also in Micro this semester and I'm actually surprisingly enjoying it. I usually hate labs but I really like this lab and I like the freedom each student has to work at their own pace and not have to rely on a lab partner all the time. I'm a lit...
