It would depend on the P&P of your facility.

Angie, Check with Cancer treatment Centers of America. I know that they tackle form all fronts, cutting line medical, spiritual and nutritional. I believe that they also encompass some naturopathic treatments too. I have worked some agency there in...

    IV Push Med Dilution

Neofax is the NICU bible. I nit are the proper dilutions for all of your meds. Too much fluid, even a cc here and another cc there can quickly add up. If a 24 weeker who has minimal kidney function at best gets an extra 10-15 ccs each day It can be...
  6. Well some agencies are out for nothing more than the almighty bill rate. I have encountered this as a staff nurse as well as an agency nurse. They will try to convince the nurse to take a shift whether or not they are qualified just to fill a shift...

Cswain12000 has the acronym down for you. I have seen 3 of thse children over the years. It is a sad dx. THe first one that I saw more than a dozen years ago, I was still in nursing school. There was little info out there. Incidentally I discove...

    State mandated elder abuse

I guess drills are different in the hospital than in LTC or Rehab. We never have to drag our pts into them. That is asinine to drag alzhiemers pt or fragile pts out bed. I like the idea better for substitute pts. Let admin come in and be the pts.

oh ye uninformed... this is why er nurses "don't care"

EMS is working under that same CYA philosphy that we in the ER are working under. They no haul one dude who dies of something totally unrelated 2 weeks later and all that you will hear on the news is some tearful family member saying is, "We called ...

Funeral Director messed up BIG time

This has also been my experience. The FH picks up the body and calls the family in the morning. I have NEVER had a FH try to talk about arrangements at 23:00.

They come out of the woodwork

Well Tom, They were probably just a little short on their co pay and wanted to make sure that they paid that before they left....... Did security remove them from the grounds or just the back???

So Sad... First OB day... Worst day ever...

THis is a tough one for anyone. Especially someone without any experience at all. It sounds like you did a great job being there for this mom. They can get a fairly eccurate gestational age on a baby by ultrasound. A 20 weeker is going to weigh mor...

What would you do to get ahead in the Line at the ER?

With the average for nonurgent cases being greater than 24 hours in many places, nine hours seems about normal. THe system is overwhelmed by many people who use the ER (EMERGENCY room) as their primary health care. ER staff can only do what they ca...

    maggots?

The maggots used therepeutically are lab grown. THe ones that the patients come in are not and could possibly vector infection, (besides the one the patient already has) I have seen them come in with the little buggers and was appropriately horrifie...

    Breastfeeding support in pediatrician's office?

That takes it to the next level. This is so much better than a practitioner who pushes a mom to switch to formula if the slightest glitch arises. I do still see this. You can measure intake with formula, change to a different one etc...

    Contract cancelled

Just about any travel contract has a section in it about the facility being able to cancel. Look over your contract. Why don't you look at some of the companies that specialize in short term contracts?
