  1. Hi Krystal, try and get a tutor or do whatever you have to do to get an A in organic chem, that will really help your points situation out since you do not have very many EMU credits and no work experience. Everything is based on a point system. When I was accepted last year I was only at EMU for one semester like you so I didn't get very many points in that section but I was able to pull of an A in organic chem and I did have health care experience. Although I do know people who got in without health care experience. Study hard for organic chem, and good luck to you!
  2. I guess i just dont understand, obviously during clincals you dont want to carry around huge heavy books but if you get the ebooks are you supossed to carry around your lab top? I mean I dont have a smart phone with all those apps so Im just trying to figure out the best option
  3. Im planning on getting the most updated version of all the books we need im just debating on whether to get ebooks for hard copies. I really cant afford to have both but I cant decide what to get. I dont have a smart phone with any apps so that doesnt due me any good, but I dont want to carry all those books to class everyday yet I am more of a visual person and would like to have the books infront of me. but then again having the books on the comp seems very convienent.. i cant make up my mind.
  4. What is everyone doing about their books? I recieved the papers about lsevier.com but Im not sure if I should buy ebooks or just the regular text books. I know the ebooks are a little cheaper but I like having a hard copy. Also I was curious why the paper they sent us with all the books lists 7 books but when you look them up on lsevier.com they only list 6 books. Also does anybody know are these JUST the books for NURS. 208/209, if so when will we know what books we need for nurs 220 & nurs 275?? has anyone ever bought these books online from a different website for cheaper or is that not a good idea? I am trying to figure all this out so hopefully someone can help me !!
  5. I happen to come accross this thread today, even though most of its post are from 2011, but I would like to comment on here for future nursing students looking for good nursing schools here in michigan and I know a lot of the community colleges have wait lists that are growing each year.. I would like to add that most universities do not have wait list, strictly competitive admission. I am a nursing student at eastern and I saw someone post early that they have a short wait list, but there is no wait list at all. it is competitive but they have a great BSN program.
  6. I also have another question for anyone who can answer it, i have heard about this ati testing we will be doing during the program, is it just to help us prepare for the NCLEX?
  7. hello tom, what edition of potter and perry do you think we should get? and also do you know what that apa book is that is used all throughout nursing school? I remember my nursing 110 teacher telling us we should get it but I cant remember what the name of it is. thanks for all the info!
  8. will we not know our schedules until we go to orientation aug 30th?
  9. how did you get all this information? will they send us a packet explaining all this?
  10. Does anyone know how this semester will work? will it be some clinicals a couple days a week and classroom lecture a couple days a week or lecture for the first part of the semester then clinicals the second half? Just Curious !
  11. do you know anything about the stethoscopes? Do they need to be a certain color or type or doesnt it matter? and what about watches?
  12. I know I dont know what to do either because I signed up for nutrition on mondays but we wont know until orientation what our schedule is going to be like, also does anyone know do we go out and get our own scrubs or order then through emu at orientation?
  13. I received my acceptance letter as well !! So excited now we can relax for the rest of the summer :)
  14. I called the nursing department today, they said letters are being sent out next week starting monday !!!!!
  15. If anyone talks to the nursing department let us know !!
  16. I am checking both each day! I read the posts from the last couple years and they got their letter around june11-16th. which is next week!! ahh so anxious & incredibly nervous
  17. its already June 4, not too much longer until we hear !! Everyone keeps updates when they get their letters!
  18. yeah i think you right, the anticipation is killing me !
  19. All the nursing advisers I talked to said the only gpa they look at is your 3 science classes, Goodluck to everyone I cant wait until we find out !! When did everyone hear we will find out? I heard it could be as soon as first week in june to as late as the third week in june, i hope its sooner than later !
  20. in my previous comment I put how many points you get for everything so look back a couple comments you will see it!
  21. I talked to the nursing advisors many many times, and although they told me that me having all A's in my sciences classes is good it depends on how many people apply that have taken all their pre-reqs at emu. apparently they weigh that really heavy which is unfortunate for people who took most of their pre-reqs elsewhere but i guess it just depends on what everyone else has that your applying with. I mean I guess you could apply without taking the teas but then your loosing 20 points right off the bat and I dont know how they look at that. they told me the points were given as so, 5 points for each section of the teas if you meet the requirments, 5 for work experience, 5 for taking nursing 110, 125 max points for having all A's in your 3 science classes, and their are i think about a total of 29 pre-req points for taking them at emu. And I was told the cut off last year was somewhere around 152.
  22. I received all A's in my science classes but I only took half of my pre-reqs at emu so im lacking points in that area.. and yeah I dont even know if you can be considered if you didnt take the teas, im not sure
  23. I know! I cant take the wait anymore, I wish we would just get out letters already!!
  24. ngrn, reading your comment makes me feel better thanks! how is the program though?
