Potter and Perry 7th and 8th Editions
Hello, Our nursing program is switching over to the 8th edition books and went ahead and gave us material to read at orientation. I have the 7th edition and can't purchase the 8th til financial aide comes in. Does anyone know if there is much of a difference? I want to get a head start but I don't want to be reviewing the wrong material!

There's nothing worse than a FAT nurse!
I think that a doctor should have more professional integrity than to say something like that. I do agree that nurses need to take care of themselves especially when we are going to be lecturing people on proper diet and exercise and we want to be taken seriously. People with weight issues have enough emotional problems than dealing with rude inconsiderate comments like that. I completely agree with Slandis....he should be worried about the competency of a nurse not her weight. Ugh!

Favorite System
I'm sure mine isn't very orginial but I'd have to say the reproductive system. I find the creation of another life to be amazing and beautiful and learning about it is really fun to me. :)

Improving Critical Thinking Skills?!
Anyone have any advice on improving critical thinking skills for nursing school? I have an NCLEX review book but it doesn't have that many questions in it so I'm looking for some sites or good books. Thanks :)

Introducing dorkus maximus
School shopping is so exciting. But school shopping for nursing school was something totally different. People were giving me funny looks while I was shopping the other day, I was wayyyy to giddy. Haha.

How RUDE can you be??
Ugh. There is always going to be a "Maggie" anywhere you go. I know that doesn't make the situation any better but maybe sit somewhere else so you don't have to listen to her negativity? People like her usually don't make the best nurses.

A rolling suitcase....really???
I don't think a rolling suitcase will be necessary but I've heard that the rolling back packs are really good especially with the book load.

Poor GPA :( any RN programs?!
I know a lot of schools use a point system and while GPA is a big part of it. You can still get in if you do really well in the other sections like scoring high on the NLN or getting high grades in sciene courses & having experience in heath care. I think it would be a good idea start looking up colleges and their admissions requirements.

I'm starting in the fall also! I've been a CNA since I ws 17 so I feel somewhat prepared for the beginning clinical experiences but everything else?! Ugh! I am so nervous. I've been reading a lot of student nurse blogs ( i even started my own), forums on here and other sites, and have been brushing up on my A&P. Good luck!

PreNursing Fears
It's completely normal to feel nervous or anxious about something as crucial as a career change or committing to an intense program like nursing! I have wanted to be a nurse since I was little and have finally got accepted into a ADN program. I was extremely excited and relieved at first...but now the anxiety and fear are taking over. I started a blog and started reading other student nurses blogs and reading the forums on here and it's really helped me. If nursing is REALLY want you want, then you will do fine! I hope you get accepted!

Suggestions for Graduation presents?
Congrats on graduating! My sister in law just had her pinning Saturday and I gave her basket full of stuff she could use as a nurse like pens, hand sanitizers, lotion, mini notebooks, clipboard, tylenol, pony tail holders, tissues, and stuff like that. She really liked it.

Useful Apps for Nursing
It's not an app but I read from someones blog about quizlet.com. It's really cool and helpful since I'm trying to review A&P before nursing school starts and as I've been surfing around I've seen tons of flashcards for nursing as well. You can even make your own on their. It's pretty cool.
