  1. Most PA programs require you to have hands-on, direct patient care experience before you can apply to PA school. I'm still trying to decide between PA & NP because in my area, there is more job...

About to start my online Stats course. Any advice?

If you've had Trig or Calculus and know how to find the area under the curve, then Stats isn't too difficult. I took Stats online, but I also had the benefit of an amazing instructor. She should teach...

    Biology and chemistry pre-reqs

If you think Bio & Chem are "eeww!", what do you think the rest of nursing school is going to be like? You need to have a baseline understanding of Bio & Chem to go on to Anatomy, Physiology,...

MSU or UM-Flint to complete BSN

Hi all, As you know, I'm currently finishing my pre-reqs to get into a nursing program. I am trying to get into the RN program at LCC and plan to finish my BSN once I complete the RN program (trying...

    Bummed about GPA

I use the CDs or publisher's website that goes along with our textbooks. There is a TON of supplemental information, practice NCLEX questions, etc., that you can find using these tools. I also take...

    To stay or to go

Personally, I would wait until you are all back I'm the States as a family. I have been a long distance Mom and it is excruciatingly difficult to be away from your child. And mine was a lot older than...
  11. If you are strong in math, then Chem won't be too bad. Just a caveat: there is a TON of memorization involved in both Chem and A&P. You'll really need to budget your study time well. Good luck

    Bummed about GPA

    Our school doesn't use +/- with grades. You get a 4.0, 3.5, 3.0, 2.5, etc. I was a 4.0 student until Nursing school. Have had a 4.0 in all classes, except 2 (got a 3.5 in both). Missed a 4.0 by 0.3...

    Fundamentals completed =)

Success in med-surg comes with a solid understanding of Physiology. Review your old notes, especially blood flow through the heart, respiratory, kidney function, digestive system, etc. If you know how...

    Is this my cohort?

Excellent advice! Keep the focus on-task. Also, you may find there are people you don't know in your nursing school cohort who will end up being like-minded, serious students. Good luck! It's hard...

    Tomorrow is my fundamentals final

Take your time. Go slowly. Read each question thoroughly. After reading the question, pick out the key words it's asking. Then read each answer. Don't select an answer until you've read each one....

    Microbiology & A&P Together

I took Physiology & Micro in the same semester (both were on the same days, too). Definitely do-able if you're strong in science. Just stay organized

    Last semester prereqs

It's definitely do-able :) Trust me, you don't want to have to take ANY additional courses while in nursing
  20. I just registered for my LAST semester of nursing school today! OMG, it's really almost over. I'm so excited to be this/close to taking the NCLEX. How many of us are embarking on our final...

Just registered for my LAST semester of nursing school

Relax & enjoy your free time now while you have it. You really cannot prepare ahead of time for nursing school. It's just something you have to experience first-hand to understand. About the only...

    Any older students?

I'm 45 and will be finishing my nursing program in May. It definitely can be done!!! I find I need to use a planner to keep track of everything that needs to be done (school work, kid's sports,...
  23. It's one semester. In the grand scheme of things, that time is a drop in the bucket. If you finish your bio degree, you'll have to go through an accelerated BSN (if you get accepted, not a...

    About Microbiology

I loved Micro!! Don't be afraid of it. It's actually quite interesting, especially lab. I loved doing the "unknown" project at the end of the course. We were given a sample of 2 different bacteria...
