I was in a similar situation a couple years ago so I chose to do public health, and I love it. The hours and working conditions are great. I do CEU's online and if my kids are sick I have a sitter that comes over if I can't take the day off.

Do not take time off after graduating. I did and just recently found a nursing position, 4 years after "taking a year off".

That has happened to me too and after driving almost an hour to the interview! The interviewer ended up talking about his military experiences, I guess since he saw I had served.

I would re-apply, if you really want to work there it can't hurt to try again. They may not even remember you, even with an unusual last name. Good luck to you!
