Agree ^_^ I've been a preceptor for years if I'm not in triage or charge role. I ask every student/new grad the same thing: "what is your short term goal for today?" It can be as simple as: answering/transferring phone calls, down time forms, IV/lab ...
WOW! I have to say that I think I pretty much had a little bit of your life while working FT and going to school then straight to 1 year trauma internship, all the while driving to & fro from Houston, TX to GA to see my husband stationed there. I...
All male & female doctors/PA/NP I've worked with ask for female chaperones. I always chart if I'm the chaperone. It's not just for billing purposes; it's also for legal & ethics I was told. I hope that helps.

I'm so glad we have several sage advice from more life-experienced milspouse out there =) I wasn't married yet when I finished nursing; so, take advantage of the scholarships and MyCAA, if there's still funding, for your basics. Don't use his GI Bill...
I hope you feel better soon. I've personally experienced being a patient in my own unit =( it's no fun and the aftermath of appointments, paperwork, missed work days, etc can be overwhelming and challenging. Like you, it made me less judgmental and ...

With an ADN, you have more options to bridge to BSN, MSN, or I believe PhD now, too. There are online colleges nowadays where you can pace your time in conjunction with your military life... I remember them being taboo, to the point that I was told "...

Congratulations on getting married. Advise from milspouse, ADN (if not BSN) all the way! It's hard to type without sounding insensitive; however, he is not in the military yet. If you are already accepted in the program, then, by all means you should...

That is good information regarding WA NP's. Would you be able to forward/pm me literature or a more current website with some info? I am debating myself whether NP or PA. Thank you.

Good idea! In our Level 1 Trauma, they hired more EMT's and GN/SN's (grad & student nurses) rather than CNA's because they could perform more per their scope of practice. Each state is different, of course; so, find out if hospitals in your area ...

Thank you @TraceyMarino. Your comment probably sealed the deal for my decision. I didn't realize NP's are more recognized/utilized OCONUS. You're right, I'm tempted to go where FINAID is more accessible.
What are your thoughts on when to start wearing compression stockings/socks/hose? I work 12h a day and my legs are edematous after 4 nights in a row. Elevating afterwards mildly help.
