  1. Forced to resign, new grad with only 1 year of experinece.

Med-Surg is most def stressful but in a different way than critical care. I've done both and they both were stressful. You have to have good time management to work on a med surg floor.
  2. Forced to resign, new grad with only 1 year of experinece.

OP you don't have to link criticism to your self worth. I made mistakes before I finally left the hospital setting. It was just too much stress for me. It didn't mean I was a bad nurse, it just meant it was the wrong job. I honestly believe there is ...
  3. Forced to resign, new grad with only 1 year of experinece.

I worked in acute care for 6 years. My anxiety levels were sky high and I was unhappy. Since I've left the inpatient setting I've been so much happier. Less stress, slower pace. OP perhaps you might consider a nursing job outside the hospital setting...
  4. LPN for 15years with no complaints\ reporting on my license.

Perhaps I might be wrong but I believe a lot of people with substance abuse problems may have a problem with underlying depression. A lot of denial is involved in substance abuse. Just my opinion.
  5. xanax and ativan?

We can't give medical advice. It would be best to contact your doctor.
  6. Please advise me...workplace bullying and gossiping

My best advice is to speak up for yourself in a calm, professional matter. Once they know they can't bully you and you will just take it, they are less likely to continue.
  7. Do you have to report a traffic citation to the BON?

I have a question. Do you have to report a traffic citation to the TxBON? It was a ticket for $202 for having my cell phone in my hand while driving.
  8. Pain Seekers

I have chronic pain. I can talk easily even when I'm in pain. So, a patient may not always present the way you would expect. I have adjusted to my pain.
  9. Did you leave bedside nursing to try something else?

I work full time in nursing care management now. I have a flexible schedule and more autonomy.
  10. Did you leave bedside nursing to try something else?

Leaving the bedside was the best thing I ever did for my health.
  11. Do you have to report a traffic citation to the BON?

    Thanks
  12. Do you have to report a traffic citation to the BON?

I've never gotten a ticket before so this is why I'm asking. 😞 Today is not a good day.
  13. Tips for taking call?

When I took call for hospice I did these things on weekend call: I had a couple of clean scrubs ready, kept extra snacks and water in my purse, put my phone ringtone on an obnoxious barking option, I would take naps whenever I could during my down ti...
  14. Regretting becoming a nurse

I agree with the other posters. The way I was able to get out of the hospital setting is I took PRN positions at hospice and home health. Now I have a FT job in case management.
  15. Hospitals Firing Seasoned Nurses: Nurses FIGHT Back!

This points out exactly why I left bedside nursing 2 yrs ago
  16. The Story of Jahi Continues

This situation is so sad. I believe the mother is in deep denial and probably believes in what she is saying to others. When will this end? My mother ended up on life support in NICU 12 years ago. My family was told she was brain dead and there was ...
  17. Fmla for depression/anxiety

I would not give specifics to your manager about your condition. I would just stress you need the time off for medical reasons. This isn't bc you should feel ashamed but because you need to protect your own health information.
  18. This is just too much

That is NOT safe, not one bit. If it was me, I would find another job. You must protect your license.
  19. I am a new nurse and I had a pt make a false accusation.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I think the charge nurse could of handled this better. You will encounter other patients and family members in your career. All you can do is do your best and chart the care you gave your patients. :hugs:
  20. Handling resignation

Hi you guys! I am new to being a nursing supervisor and I just wanted to ask for an opinion. I had a scheduled phone call time with a new care manager to go over some nursing guidelines. I called, there was no answer, left a VM. Sent an e-mail saying...
  21. Epic Health Services

I also don't understand why they push low acuity nurses to take high acuity cases. This seems extremely dangerous.
  22. Epic Health Services

What the heck? That sounds disorganized. Do you know why they are always hiring nurses?
  23. Loans and job

I agree with the above poster about contacting the hospital about working out a better payment plan.
  24. Pierce County, Washington nurses suing over mandatory flu shots

I think there should be an alternative for those that don't get the flu shot. I will say this though, I got the flu once when I did not get a flu shot. I felt like I was dying. After that I started getting the vaccine!
  25. Fell asleep at private case

Also if it was me, I would no longer befriend any of your patients or family members on FB in the future. Things can just get messy that way!
