  1. Have you considered going for your ADN at a community college first and then transferring for BSN? Or do you already have your ADN? I know here in NC there are a ton of grants available for single...

    Not a test taker

You aren't in the RN program already? I would exhaust all resources available to you. Go talk to an instructor and see what might be

    Not a test taker

Ohhhh yeah. Lots of people have problems with questions like that. Unfortunately nursing is "attention to detail", that is def. something you are going to need to work on. Keep doing practice...

Is there really a nursing shortage?

Sad indeed. My mother who is a LPN is part of this generation. We joke that once she "bites the dust" I can finally go work at her facility like I originally wanted to. They have a strict family...

Can anyone make sense of this? Vent

Wow! I don't know if this is the "norm" for profit LTC, but I just wanted to say that I'm so glad you got out of

    Part time

Home health and/or PDN may be an option for you. Some of my cases, I am lifting my patients and others there is no lifting at all. Most require 1 year experience before they hire you though. Like...

What's in your bag (and/or car) -- the PDN version!

I take all my own vital sign equipment as I've found the patients are usually missing or broken. So Stethoscope, BP cuff, thermometer, pulse ox. For the patients: Soap, hand sanitizer, baby wipes,...

    Not a test taker

Do you feel you need more time? I know for me it was because I spent too much time on a question. I would answer it and then rethink my answer and ultimately change it to the wrong answer. I stopped...

Having One of Those Days of Doubt Again....

Positive vibes your way! I will say that if you get your CNAII while in nursing school and find a position doing that it will most likely be much easier to get a position as a RN on the floor you've...

    Home health med admin

I have a patient that is a walking pharmacy. I never touch his medications, I just ask him if he took them. There was one time where he had acute onset of bilateral pitting edema in his lower...

Is there really a nursing shortage?

Yes, they definitely will be working longer, but they can't work

    Does Night Shift get easier?

I'm sure it can, but I'm a 31 year old single mother of two who LOVES sleep, but for some reason I've just been able to do this and it works well for me. But honestly, I don't think age is...

Help with long term goal Evaluation

The nursing process is an ongoing process. You don't always evaluate just at the end of your time frame that you set. Did you notice any changes made that shows progress towards meeting that goal?...

Is there really a nursing shortage?

There are two colleges in my town that offer a nursing program (one ADN and the other BSN). I know that from my class of 120 graduating nurses with maybe only a handful not passing NCLEX, practically...

    California BON

I just want you to know I wasn't trying to imply that you were a criminal, I was just trying to better understand your situation. It doesn't make sense to me either if in fact you did nothing to...

    California BON

Well, honestly you are affiliated with CA for good since you worked there. You went to a recovery program in MI, for what? Could they possibly have picked up on an old case that you were involved...

I don't know what your discipline was so please don't think I'm trying to imply anything when I say this.... should a criminal who committed murder in California be free of all discipline if they move...

What did you do in CA other than let your license expire that they are now taking legal action? Just because you are not licensed now doesn't mean you aren't responsible for what happened when you...

I don't know how many nclex questions I was given.

It does sound silly and it really doesn't matter. Some people pass with 75 questions and some pass with 265 and some fail with 75 and some fail with 265. You passed! That is all that matters and...

Nurses who never worked in the hospital

    1. Did you start out looking for a hospital job? If yes, for how long? Yes, for about 4 months I looked. 2. What made you decide to pursue something other than hospital nursing? Was it a matter of not...

    Best Hallucinations Thread

I was still a nursing student at the time, but I had a DT patient in soft restraints who swore I was his sister. He kept asking me to go to the store and get a bottle of wine and a pack of smokes and...

    Overtime dependent nurses

Coming from a single mother of 2 who lived off 300$ a month for 11 years, part-time pay is like rolling in the dough for me. I work full-time now and since I've become the master at making a dollar...

    Nursing Dx for pressure ulcer

Also, why isn't she at risk for infection? IMO anyone in the hospital is at risk for infection, she's 77 and on bed rest. Wounds aren't the only thing that cause infection.
