Almcco, I hope you end up getting a spot! Out of curiosity, how did they notify you of being an alternate? Via a letter in the mail or a phone call? And what did they state was the timing? When will you find out one way or the other? Good luck!

Lol. I'm 29! I'm not the 24 year old. Graduated pre-med at age 22. Worked for 4 years. Went to 22 month accelerated program when I was 26. Worked in ICU right out of school at age 28. Will start CRNAS school at age 29. Sorry to confuse you!

I got into the ICU right after graduation. My problem was that I already got my BS in Pre-Med so I had to go back and get my nursing degree. Wasted years! Lol.

I'm 29, and I just got accepted to a program and will start July, 2012 (I will be 30 in August, 2012). I think I am probably around the avg. age.

I know exactly what you mean!!! I'm looking at it this way: I know acceptance is on a point system (so as to keep it 100% objective) and you get points in every aspect of the application; points for competitive GPA, good GRE scores, experience, etc. ...

Yeah that's an old process. The past year and our year I think they interview ALL potentials over the course of 3 days, with those with the "most competitive GPAs" being interviewed on the first day (go us!!). That's gotta count for something right?

Hey. Out of curiosity, what time was your interview with MTSA?

I think approximately 1/3 of all applicants got interviews this time around. They usually interview 2x the number of slots available. 72 right? So about 150 interviewed and 450 applied. Does that sound right??

P.S. You must be a glutton for self-punishment! MTSA interview on Thursday and CCRN test on Monday?! That's nuts! Good luck though! I remember thinking that I may have failed during the exam but actually got like 15-20 Qs correct over the base requir...

I used the Pass CCRN book too! Seriously, just focus on the Cardiac and Pulmonary sections as these two make up about 40% of the exam. Then fluff professional/ethical care questions make up another 20% which are mostly common sense. That's 60% right ...

You and me both. Keep in mind, they don't expect you to know everything. They really put us through this process to see how well we handle ourselves under pressure bc nurse anesthesia is a job that requires you to be calm and collected in crisis situ...

You said it! Spoke with a person who started MTSA this summer. She said she got her acceptance phone call on Wednesday, 1 day earlier than the scheduled call-back day. So make sure to have your phone nearby this Wednesday. Just in case.

Haha. U can't sleep either? My nerves are still in overdrive. I'm curious what Q's they asked you but don't want you to post it here in case MTSA is weird about giving away information before the 2nd and 3rd days of interviews.
